Six first team players left Arsenal permanently this summer in all, and Edu made great strides in his attempts to restructure the group.
Three Arsenal players who will go on to excel elsewhere in the Premier League—Aaron Ramsdale, Eddie Nketiah, and Emile Smith Rowe—were bid farewell by Mikel Arteta.
Then there were players like Arthur Okonkwo, Mohamed Elneny, and Cedric Soares, who all went on a free transfer when their contracts expired.
Arsenal replaced them with four fresh signings, thinking they had offloaded peripheral players with elite replacements, as had always been the intention.
Having said that, there are still one or two unresolved cases involving players who are in a somewhat limbo.
Unknown to many is the fact that Omar Rekik, who had the freedom to leave the club on deadline day, and Kieran Tierney, who had not been in Arteta’s original plans, remained at the club.
Despite rumours that Omar Rekik has departed, Arsenal does not announce his departure. It was never the case that Rekik would be sold on the last day of the transfer window.
Rekik is no longer a player for Arsenal after the club amicably cancelled his contract, according to credible reports that have surfaced since then.
Strangely, Arsenal hasn’t issued an official statement yet, even though they undoubtedly intend to verify the information.
Furthermore, Rekik’s name has vanished from the official website, despite the fact that neither the club nor social media have made any announcements.
That would imply that the information claiming that “excellent” Rekik is no longer under contract with Arsenal is accurate.
