Blackburn Rovers make a fresh transfer move for Sheffield Wednesday ace.

Blackburn Rovers are apparently considering a fresh approach for Sheffield Wednesday’s highly rated centre-forward, Bailey Cadamarteri.

That is according to Alan Nixon – via Patreon – as the East Lancashire club remains widely connected with a move for the Owls star, as his current club’s dreadful and painful season continues both on and off the pitch.

Rovers and Wednesday have had a terrible season, with both clubs presently in the Championship relegation zone, and the financial and ownership circumstances at Ewood Park and Hillsborough remain exceedingly precarious.

However, it is fair to say that the Steel City club’s short-term fate was decided some time ago, with the Owls receiving an 18-point deduction across the campaign thus far, initially receiving a 12-point deficit for entering administration at the end of October, before being docked another six points on December 1st for further financial breaches.

As a result, Henrik Pedersen’s side is minus seven points and is currently on a club record run of 22 games without a win, having won only one Championship game all season, against Portsmouth at Fratton Park on September 20.

While this has kept takeover talk as the top priority in S6, with James Bord and his consortium still aiming to complete negotiations, some players have become the focus of leaving rumors.

It has been well reported that Barry Bannan played his 477th and final game for the club on Saturday, a 2-0 loss to Bristol City, as a move to divisional rivals Millwall approaches.

The Owls have also seen highly-rated defender Yisa Alao join Premier League giants Chelsea for a reported £500,000 on a two-and-a-half-year contract this week, and Pedersen’s squad could become even thinner on the ground if Rovers are successful in their new bid for Cadamarteri.

Blackburn Rovers continue their chase of Sheffield Wednesday forward Bailey Cadamarteri.

Cadamarteri has been linked with a move away from Hillsborough in both transfer windows this season, despite the 20-year-old turning in a good performance for Wednesday in difficult circumstances.

It was reported in the summer that Blackburn were interested in signing the former Lincoln City loanee following his previous spell of eight goals in 31 appearances at the LNER Stadium last season, with a seven-figure bid turned down by the South Yorkshire club in the final days of the previous window.

So far this season, the four-time Jamaican international, who has also scored once for the ‘Reggae Boyz’ despite only making his debut in September, has scored twice in 28 Championship appearances for the division’s bottom and crisis club, with goals against Wrexham and Hull City.

It was then stated that Hibernian, an SPFL club, had had a proposal for the striker rejected at the start of the window, but it was later discovered that the Edinburgh club had only submitted an offer of around £250,000, despite claims of a seven-figure deal.

On January 12th, Football League World exclusively revealed that Millwall, along with Hibs and Blackburn, had entered the transfer battle for Cadamarteri’s services, before reports emerged that the striker was also wanted by League One play-off hopefuls Luton Town in Jack Wilshere’s first transfer window at Kenilworth Road.

However, Nixon has revealed that Rovers are preparing a new offer to recruit the Leeds-born attacker, who scored his first senior goal in a 3-1 win over them in November 2023.

Nixon claims that Blackburn has contacted the Owls’ current administrators, Begbies Traynor, about the potential of a deal, with Cadamarteri apparently at the top of Valerien Ismael’s transfer wishlist.

It has also been said that, while Rovers’ offer exceeds the amount of cash lined up by Hibs, Wednesday are hoping to secure a higher fee for their academy graduate.

The acquisition for Bailey Cadamarteri would be an intriguing move for Blackburn Rovers.

Valerien Ismael clearly values Cadamarteri, and Rovers are now back in the hunt for the striker following a failed summer transfer, and he would be a fascinating addition.

The striker currently has six goals in 51 Championship matches, but he has handled himself well and performed with maturity during difficult times for Wednesday.

However, given Rovers’ current condition, which has them a point within the bottom three with 17 games remaining, some may doubt whether this signing will fix their creative issues, as they have only scored 26 times this season.
