Birmingham City prepares Chris Davies replacements as sack update drops.

Chris Davies is fighting to keep his job at Birmingham City as the club prepares a shortlist of possible replacements.

According to Football Insider, the 40-year-old’s job is tenuous following the Blues’ 3-0 defeat against Sheffield United.

Tyler Bindon, Gustavo Hamer, and Patrick Bamford scored for the Blades at Bramall Lane, bringing the distance between the two clubs to only three points.

The Midlands club has struggled on the road, with this their eighth loss in 12 league games away from St. Andrew’s since promotion.

Davies has been in command since the summer of 2024, and he supervised Birmingham’s record-breaking elevation to the second division, during which the team scored 111 points.

Birmingham compiles a shortlist of Chris Davies alternatives.

Davies’ position at Birmingham is not in jeopardy following the 3-0 loss to Sheffield United.

However, pressure is apparently increasing on the head coach, with the team’s chances of promotion fading on Saturday afternoon.

Davies is expected to guide the team to victory in both of their forthcoming matches in order to save his job.

Birmingham face Derby County and Southampton, with the team sitting six points behind the play-offs as we near the midway point of the season.

Blues owner Tom Wagner wants the team to compete in the Premier League soon, and he even hopes to secure back-to-back promotions.

As a result, Birmingham are already putting together a list of potential Davies replacements in case the manager changes during the holiday season.

Davies’ side dropped to 14th in the Championship table after their latest defeat, their third in the past four games.

The timing of a manager change is tough for Birmingham.

Not only are there a lot of games coming up in the next several weeks, but the January transfer window is also approaching.

If Birmingham wants to change managers immediately, the new coach will have a lot of work to do in a short period of time, which could be difficult.

The Blues’ away form is worrying, but they continue to perform well at home, which is why they are still in contention for a top six spot.

It all depends on the type of manager they can find to take over, although a coaching change could be problematic at this point in the season.
