Birmingham City have released Phil Neumann’s name among players leaving under manager Chris Davies, with the situation described as “ridiculous.”

Phil Neumann has not appeared for Birmingham City in a league game since February 10th.

The German centre-back has just been with the Blues for about eight months and appears to be behind Jack Robinson and Jonathan Panzo for a starting spot.

Given that Serie A side Sassuolo has already expressed an interest in him during the winter transfer window, Neumann may opt to depart Birmingham if his lack of game time continues.

Jason Moore, FLW’s resident Bluenose, has given a strong opinion on whether the defender will remain in B9 next season.

Phil Neumann predicts a Birmingham City exit if Chris Davies stays.

According to Italian journalist Maurizio Russo, Sassuolo expressed an interest in signing Neumann during the January transfer window.

When combined with the player’s lack of playing time, it is possible that other clubs may be vying for Neumann’s services this summer.

Moore believes Neumann’s future with the Blues depends on the head coach, not the player.Phil Neumann is dependent on what happens with Chris Davies,” the Fan Pundit noted, emphasizing that the German defender’s future is inextricably linked to how the present manager views his center-back alternatives.

Moore continued, “If Chris Davies isn’t here, I don’t think he’ll go. “But if Chris Davies is here, he must leave.”You can’t be a fourth-choice centre-back behind Jack Robinson and Jonathan Panzo, who aren’t up to par.”

On the pitch, Neumann has started all 26 league games this season, although he hasn’t played a single minute since the FA Cup encounter against Leeds United, in which he played for half an hour.

Phil Neumann’s status at Birmingham City under Chris Davies has been described as ‘crazy’.

Moore emphasized Neumann’s contributions to Blues’ success, arguing that the defender deserves more faith from Davies. And the fact that we’ve won more games with him in the squad and he’s still not playing, it’s just crazy,” he continued, dubbing the situation unworthy of a team with Birmingham’s ambitions – even if a top six finish now appears doubtful.

From that standpoint, having Neumann effectively blocked behind Robinson and Panzo would be difficult to justify for any coach, let alone one under investigation.

In fact, this is the second time this season Davies has left Neumann out of his Blues starting lineup, the first coming in October.

At the time, Davies told BBC Radio WM Neumann that he needed to be patient till his return. However, any remaining patience may be extremely thin.

Moore completed his evaluation by saying, “So, thinking about where the Blues will be, my gut feeling is Chris Davies won’t be in charge, and Phil Neumann will still be here.”

Clearly, if Davies moves on, as predicted by the fan pundit, it may provide Neumann with the necessary reset. If not, Birmingham run the genuine risk of losing the former Schalke player.
