Birmingham City earned a point on the road at West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday night.
Chris Davies has bluntly disregarded West Bromwich Albion’s protests about a penalty that was not awarded in their draw with Birmingham City.
Baggies manager Ryan Mason was irritated that his team was not awarded a penalty before Marvin Ducksch’s equaliser when Aune Heggebo went down under a push from Patrick Roberts.
Ducksch quickly scored to cancel off Alex Mowatt’s opening goal at The Hawthorns, ensuring a draw in the West Midlands derby.
Mason stated, “I haven’t seen it back, but my opinion was that you could see the ball didn’t change direction, and Bo is not the type of player to go down without contact.”
“We’ll see in a few days if the email gets through. I know we’ve gotten a lot of emails this season claiming the decision was unanimously wrong, so it will be fascinating, but it won’t impact the game or the outcome.”
Mason’s comments were addressed by Blues manager Davies, who formerly worked alongside his Albion counterpart on Tottenham Hotspur’s coaching staff, at his post-match press conference.
Davies answered by saying: “No, I haven’t seen it, I can’t even remember it, which tells you how much it was a penalty.”
The draw keeps Blues eighth in the Championship table, two points behind the play-off places after 17 games.
