Leny Yoro is travelling to the UK to complete a medical examination and settle personal matters, as Manchester United attempts to pull off a stunning coup by acquiring the much sought-after center-back from Lille.

Last Monday, the clubs came to an agreement on an initial fee of €62 million (£52 million; $67.9 million); Yoro was still required to approve the transfer.

Real Madrid was his first choice, but they haven’t indicated that they’ll pay the amount that United and Lille agreed upon.

The Ligue 1 team decided to trade Yoro this summer rather than risk losing him as a free agent when his current contract expires in June 2025, which is why they are strongly in support of a deal with United.

The 18-year-old France youth international has come around to the notion of relocating to Old Trafford, and the most recent developments represent a significant improvement in the circumstances, but more needs to be done.

If all goes according to plan, United will get their main target—a guy who is considered a generational talent in the game—to improve their defence.
