The Premier League transfer window has come and gone, and it had a significant influence. English Premier League clubs combined to spend a record sum of more than £3 billion, surpassing the previous record by about £750 million. As you can think, such spending has resulted in the acquisition of some genuinely extraordinary talents.
Last season’s top performers included Matthijs de Ligt, Amadou Onana, and Dominic Solanke. To be honest, several of the players who did not receive top billing this year would outperform that trio, demonstrating how significant this past summer has been. With that in mind, GIVEMESPORT has undertaken the exceedingly difficult chore of compiling the best XI of Premier League recruits during the 2025 summer shopping binge.
Goalkeeper and Defence

If there was one aspect of the XI that appeared to be lacking, it was defence, which is surprising given the talent on exhibit. Prior to deadline day, you were likely to see someone like Caoimhin Kelleher in goal, but Gianluigi Donnarumma’s late arrival at Manchester City immediately puts him in contention to be the greatest shot-stopper in the division.
Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez are expected to play fullback on the right and left sides, respectively. While they haven’t set the world on fire at Anfield yet, with the former suffering an injury right away and the latter failing to adjust, they were two of the most sought-after defenders in the world for a reason. You’d expect both to improve quickly.
Then come the center-backs. To be honest, no significant prospects stood out. We examined Bournemouth’s Bafode Diakite, Brighton’s Diego Coppola, and Sunderland’s Nordi Mukiele, but we ultimately chose Arsenal loanee Piero Hincapie and Newcastle’s new recruit Malick Thiaw because of their previous experience in Europe’s top competitions.
Midfield

The three pre-season Premier League title favourites have all made strong midfield signings, and all of them deserve to be in this XI. If this were a genuine team, Tijjani Reijnders and Martin Zubimendi would undoubtedly serve as the engine room’s anchors. Tasked with sitting deeper and commanding possession, you would expect the Dutchman to rush forward with some late dashes to cause issues, like he did against Wolves on his Premier League debut.
Then there’s Florian Wirtz at number 10. In terms of form, he may not be ready for this. After all, players like Jack Grealish and Matheus Cunha have had a greater impact in similar areas for their new clubs.
That being said, Wirtz’s talent is apparent, and Liverpool fans want and expect him to demonstrate his actual playmaking abilities sooner rather than later. What he has accomplished outside of the Premier League is sufficient for him to command a role in this team, even if the German’s start at Anfield has not been the most exciting.
Attack

Choosing a front three was by far the most difficult part of our XI. There have been so many great attacking players making Premier League moves this summer that some huge names have been left out. Estevao Willian might be the league’s face in the future. Viktor Gyokeres joined Arsenal as one of the most exciting strikers in Europe. Before signing with Manchester United, Benjamin Sesko was widely regarded as having the highest potential. However, none of them make it in.
Bryan Mbeumo, on the right, is a Premier League player whose abilities are undeniable. He was always bound to take the next step after scoring so many goals for Brentford, and now that he is a Red Devil, he has already scored two goals in four games as Ruben Amorim looks to alter his frontline.
Eberechi Eze slides in on the left, where he will undoubtedly drift infield to cause havoc at the Emirates. Eze, like Mbeumo, must show that he can transfer his Crystal Palace form to Arsenal. We don’t know yet, but it would be surprising if he didn’t.
And then there’s Alexander Isak. Despite protesting and refusing to play, the Swede was eventually transferred from Newcastle to Liverpool. Now that the controversy is over, Isak needs to get back to doing what he does best: scoring goals. Hugo Ekitike has already had a fast start to his Liverpool career and will not give up the number nine spot easily.
