Bayern Munich-linked player dies aged 18 after horrific incident in friendly match

In February, a football player who was only 18 years old passed away after being involved in a fight that occurred during a game.

On February 6, Guo Jiaxuan was participating in a friendly match in Madrid, Spain, when he was struck in the head by a blow.

In the course of a training camp that was organised by the Beijing Football Association, the China youth international had been competing in a match against RC Alcobendas, a Spanish club.

The player’s brother took to social media in the days that followed the incident to provide an update on the condition of the adolescent.

Guo’s brother posted a message on social media stating that his brother was taken to the hospital after being hit in the head by another player’s knee while he was participating in training on Thursday.

I was informed by the interpreter that the physician at the hospital stated that my brother had an excessive amount of bleeding in his head and that there was a low probability that he would ever survive… The tubes that maintain his life support were going to be removed by the hospital.

It was reported by the Mail that Guo’s father had allegedly rejected the recommendations of the medical professionals to turn off the life support system.

After that, the player was taken to his home country of China for medical treatment, and it was later determined that he had passed away on March 19, 2017, which was the day before he would have turned 19 years old.

On Thursday morning, Bayern Munich issued a statement in which they paid tribute to the player, who had recently joined the club’s club team for the world championship.

According to the statement, “FC Bayern is mourning the passing of Guo Jiaxuan, the former World Squad player who passed away at the age of 18 in his native China.” Guo Jiaxuan was a member of the World Squad.

On February 6, he was involved in a tragic accident that occurred during a training match in Spain. As a result of the serious head injury he sustained, he ultimately passed away. All of his loved ones and friends are in the club’s thoughts and prayers.

The centre back was selected to be a member of the FC Bayern World Squad in 2023. This squad provides talented players from all over the world with the opportunity to showcase their abilities for professional football. Additionally, Jiaxuan was a member of China’s various youth national teams.

A statement was also posted on social media by Beijing Guoan, the player’s club side, which read as follows: “We have lost a kid who loves football, may Guo Jiaxan rest in peace!”

A further explanation was provided regarding the manner in which the club would “continue to do its best” to “properly handle” and provide support to the player’s family.
