Barcelona show interest in signing Ibrahima Konate for free – reports

Ibrahima Konaté is a free transfer target for Barcelona in 2026.

Journalist Santi Aouna claims that Barcelona is keeping an eye on Ibrahima Konaté, a center-back for Liverpool, with the goal of acquiring him on a free transfer in the summer of 2026.

After negotiations for a contract extension at Anfield broke down, the 26-year-old French international will become a free agent at the conclusion of the 2025–2026 campaign. The defender and Liverpool have not yet come to an agreement, which might lead to a high-profile departure.

Considered by many to be among Europe’s most technically proficient and physically dominant center backs, Konaté is currently drawing interest from some of the top players on the continent. Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are two of the top teams attentively monitoring his situation.

As his contract expires, Konaté will have the freedom to negotiate with international teams starting in January 2026. Since there won’t be a transfer fee, he could demand a hefty signing bonus.

The defender is reportedly open to leaving Liverpool as a free agent, particularly if a deal cannot be reached in the upcoming months. Even though he is a vital member of the Reds’ defense, his future at Anfield is now questionable.

There will be plenty of suitors for Konaté if he decides to transfer, and Barcelona is anticipated to be at the top of the list because they are keen to bolster their defense with elite players.
