The Spanish adolescent is one of the world’s most exciting football talents, and another team has apparently expressed interest.
A club has reportedly made a world record bid of £350 million (€400 million) for Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal.
Yamal, 18, is largely regarded as the best young player in the world, having debuted for Barcelona at the age of 15 in 2023.
Despite being in the early stages of his career, the Barcelona winger has already starred for both his club and country. He helped Spain win Euro 2024 and was instrumental in Barca’s treble-winning 2024/25 campaign, which included winning La Liga, Copa del Rey, Supercopa de España, and reaching the Champions League semi-finals before being eliminated by Inter.
In May 2025, Yamal extended his contract with Barcelona for another six years until 2031, making him the highest-paid teenager in international football.
According to The Athletic, Yamal earns just shy of €40 million (£33.5 million) every year before taxes, however that figure is dependent on whether he receives all of his performance-related bonuses.
This is equivalent to £644,000 each week, or £3,385 per hour and £63 per minute.
So, you’d anticipate such large quantities of money to deter prospective interest from other clubs.
However, according to Fichajes, this is not the case.
According to the publication, Saudi club Al-Hilal has made a world record bid of £350 million for the prodigy. According to the website, Barcelona turned down the alleged offer and wants to keep the player.
If Yamal were to leave Catalonia for Riyadh, he would join former Liverpool player Darwin Nunez, ex-Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly, and former Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo.
So, what has Yamal revealed about his future?
Well, it’s fair to say that, at least publicly, he’s stated where he plans to play football in the future.
In February 2025, Yamal stated that it would be “impossible” for him to leave the Catalan club when referencing past interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
“I think it’s impossible that I would go to another club,” Yamal told Mundo Deportivo.
“I don’t think anyone doubts how much I love this club.”
In a 2024 interview with Spanish TV show El Hormiguero, Yamal expressed his intention to become a “legend” at Barcelona, saying, “I hope I never leave”.
Yamal is now out injured and was forced to withdraw from the Spain squad for the October internationals, having previously missed Barcelona’s 4-1 La Liga defeat against Sevilla on October 5.
