Barcelona ‘Make Decision’ on Marcus Rashford Permanent Transfer After Ten Games

The loanee from Manchester United has had a fantastic start to his career with the La Liga team.

According to reports, Barcelona has made a decision over whether to pursue Marcus Rashford, a Manchester United loanee, in a possible permanent deal.

During the summer transfer window, Rashford, 27, moved from Manchester United to Barcelona on a first-season loan.

Under Barca manager Hansi Flick’s tutelage, he has since regained his form, with three goals and five assists in just ten games. His first La Liga goal came in Sunday’s 4-1 loss to Sevilla.

Rashford’s one negative experience during his first few months in Spain was being benched for the league match against Getafe after arriving late for a training session.

Rashford’s comeback, however, is evident to all and has resulted in him receiving another call-up to Thomas Tuchel’s England team.

Will he, however, extend his loan until the following summer?

Barcelona is apparently prepared to accept the permanent option in Rashford’s loan, according to the Spanish publication SPORT, which Tribal has relayed. However, there is still some discussion around a possible fee because of Barca’s financial circumstances.

Although Rashford, who is under contract with his parent club until June 2028, will probably have to give up some of his present £315,000 weekly wage from his contract at United, Barca can activate the option for a cost of £26.2 million.

According to Tribal, Barca’s management will attempt to work out a lower fee to entice the Englishman to join the team.

La Liga’s Financial Fair, which stipulates that clubs may only spend as much on salaries as they bring in, may also have an effect on a possible transfer.

According to a Mirror report, United has already consented to allow Barca to finalise the deal for £26 million next summer, with the La Liga team reportedly paying all of the player’s wages in exchange. However, neither Manchester United nor Barcelona, nor the player’s representatives have yet to confirm this.

What has Rashford stated on the permanent nature of his loan, then?

In September, the 27-year-old was quoted as stating that he wanted to play for Barcelona for “as many seasons as possible.” He has made no secret of his apparent wish to remain in Catalonia.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano also asserted that the England player is “not even thinking about a Manchester United return from the loan” and that the club’s board is now “very positive” about his performance.

After the international break, when England plays Latvia in a World Cup qualifying match and Wales in a friendly, Rashford will return to Barcelona.
