Barcelona fans left outraged over ‘edited’ footage as controversial VAR audio emerges after Real Madrid win

Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 4-3 in Sunday’s El Clasico, moving them seven points clear of the top spot in La Liga.
Despite their 4-3 victory over Real Madrid on Sunday, which put them seven points clear at the top of La Liga, Barcelona supporters were furious with the match officials.

Kylian Mbappe’s brace gave Real Madrid a two-goal lead in just 14 minutes, shocking Barcelona supporters inside the Estadi de Montjuïc.

Eric Garcia gave Hansi Flick’s team a goal on 19 minutes, but they never give up, and on 32 minutes, Lamine Yamal tied the score with a spectacular curled shot.

Raphinha gave the home team the lead two minutes later, and on 45 minutes, the Brazilian gave Barca a two-goal lead with his second of the game.

On the 70th minute, Mbappe attempted to spark a Madrid comeback with a goal that earned him a hat-trick, but Barca held firm and believed they had a fifth goal through Fermin Lopez before the strike was disallowed for handball.

Mundo Deportivo said that Juan Martínez Munuera in the VOR (Video Operations Room) encouraged referee Alejandro Hernandez Hernandez to glance at the pitch-side monitor.

Additionally, a remark made during the audio has caused problems.

Martínez Munuera stated in the RFEF-released audio: “Hey, Alex, we just found a handball, all right? Come have a look, please.

Then a “unknown voice” said: “Thank goodness, given the height. Absolutely, absolutely.

In response, Hernández Hernández said: “All right, excellent. Let’s go on. Yes, it strikes his hand. The ball is leaving. Give me a broad view now so I can see the whole action and its conclusion. All OK, excellent. Clearly, the hand is up. I will not permit the goal.

The “thank goodness” portion, according to MD, appears to have been removed from the RFEF’s social media video.

On social media, fans were ready to voice their opinions.

“I’m starting to lose faith in Spain’s VAR system,” one person stated. What a travesty! How can you deny a goal based on the same scenario and not accept a penalty?

“I need to know how a goal can be disallowed for a handball before Valverde’s control, which Gavi later recovered and scored,” another person said. Would it also be disallowed because it was a handball a while back if there had been five possessions instead of one play?

A third, however, clarified: “‘Thank goodness’ a disgrace.”
