Aston Villa announce five players are leaving the club as major Marcus Rashford update given

In preparation for the 2025–2026 Premier League season, Unai Emery has reduced the size of his team.

As a final decision regarding Marcus Rashford’s future has been reached, Aston Villa has released five players ahead of the 2025–2026 Premier League season.

After finishing sixth in the Premier League, Unai Emery’s team had a comparatively good 2024–25 season and qualified for the 2025–26 Europa League.

In addition to making it to the FA Cup semifinals before falling to Crystal Palace handily, the Birmingham-based team also ran eventual Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain close in a thrilling second leg of the quarterfinal at Villa Park.

The arrival of Rashford and Marco Asensio, who both made significant contributions while on loan at the Villans, aided Emery’s team in the second half of the 2024–25 season.

Axel Disasi of Chelsea also went on loan.

Finally, a choice about their futures has been made.

“Aston Villa would like to thank Robin Olsen and Kortney Hause following the expiration of their contracts, as well as our loan players as they return to their respective parent clubs,” the statement, which was uploaded on their website on Monday, June 30, said in reference to their retained list.

“Goalkeeper Olsen became a favorite in the locker room after joining Villa in 2022 and playing in 22 games. He signs with Malmö FF of Sweden.

Like Olsen, defender Hause first came to Villa Park on loan in 2019 and helped the team win the Wembley play-off final to get promoted to the Premier League before deciding to make the transfer permanent. He made 55 appearances and netted four goals for the Villans.

Axel Disasi, Marcus Rashford, and Marco Asensio all joined Villa in February on loan agreements that would last until the end of the 2024–2025 campaign.

“In his 21 appearances in the claret and blue, attacking midfielder Asensio scored eight goals, including three in the two legs of our Round of 16 matchup with Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League.

“Forward Rashford scored two goals in our FA Cup quarterfinal matchup with Preston North End, and he made 17 appearances for the team, contributing nine goals overall across all competitions.

“Defender Disasi arrived from Chelsea and made 10 appearances for Villa, his first coming against Ipswich Town in mid-February.”

Rashford will therefore rejoin Manchester United for the time being, Asensio will rejoin PSG, and Disasi will rejoin Chelsea.

Naturally, the England international will still probably leave this summer. In the midst of rumors that he is interested in joining Barcelona, the player recently acknowledged that he wants to play with Lamine Yamal.
