Manchester United fans want Andre Onana and two of his teammates to be left off the bus home from Blundell Park following their humiliating Carabao Cup loss at the hands of EFL League Two club Grimsby Town.
Grimsby won 12-11 on penalties after a 2-2 draw over 90 minutes against Ruben Amorim’s Red Devils, capping a disastrous night for the visitors. They were heavy favourites to go to the third round, but experience had shown that a second-round matchup may be problematic.
Nobody expected United to be eliminated from one of their only two cup tournaments, but new recruit Bryan Mbeumo missed his second penalty kick. It’s the first time the Premier League champions have lost a League Cup game to a fourth-tier side.
Manchester United’s Ugarte and Dalot are unhappy at Grimsby.

Fans ripped into some shocking performances by United players, with Diogo Dalot and Manuel Ugarte standing out like sore fingers. The pair had already faced criticism for poor performances in a 1-0 loss to Arsenal and a 1-1 draw away to Fulham in the league.
Dalot was caught sleeping for Charles Vernam’s opener in the 22nd minute, as the Mariners raced ahead with ease before defeating the horribly underperforming Andre Onana. The Portuguese right-back does not fit into Amorim’s system, and tonight was the latest in a string of poor displays to demonstrate this.
The 26-year-old started on the right before moving to left wing-back after Patrick Dorgu was substituted. He was partnered on the right side by Ugarte, who has failed to impress United fans since joining from Paris Saint-Germain for £50.5 million.
Ugarte brought exit-linked Kobbie Mainoo down in the build-up to Vernam’s goal, after which he protested being fouled. The Uruguayan had the ball picked off too easily, resulting in the opening goal.

Onana was subsequently to blame for Tyrell Warren’s 30th-minute goal, rushing off his line to try to claim the ball, only to see it end up in the back of the net. The Cameroonian had again another forgettable night, although Dalot and Ugarte both earned criticism from fans.
United got back into the game with Mbeumo’s superb strike in the 75th minute after coming off the bench. Harry Maguire then came to the rescue, as usual, with an 89th-minute header that sent the game to penalties.
Amorim’s fresh recruits cost his team the shootout, with Matheus Cunha missing a penalty kick that would have sent the visitors through. Onana made six tries but was unable to keep the ball out, and Mbeumo hit the crossbar as Grimsby hauled in the big fish.
Furious Manchester United fans tell higher-ups that Dalot and Ugarte aren’t good enough.

Dalot and Ugarte were not left off the hook by David Artell’s Mariners or their own social media followers. Their poor performances outraged fans, who questioned if they were good enough to play for United.
One fan advised United to move on from recent disappointments:
“Leave Onana, Ugarte and Dalot at Grimsby let them walk home”
Another supporter informed Amorim:
“Dalot wouldn’t get in this Grimsby side.”
One fan expressed this stance:
“Can we leave Dalot and Onana here and pay their wages for the season? Would be acceptable substitutes for Grimsby.”
A supporter added:
“Ugarte is also pathetic. A shame to this institution. I don’t understand how he keeps receiving minutes on the pitch when, I kid you not, we have better choices in our academy.”
Amorim will also be in hot water as his team begins a vital season with three consecutive losses. They switch their attention to Burnley on Saturday (August 30), and there may be one or two groans if Dalot or Ugarte play.
