Arsenal ‘ramp up’ bid for Premier League star just a day after striking deal for Viktor Gyokeres

After the deal for Viktor Gyokeres is finalised, Arsenal is preparing a spectacular bid for a Premier League star.

After months of rumours this summer, Arsenal is getting closer to signing Gyokeres from Sporting CP.

Sporting has now agreed to a comprehensive deal with the Gunners, accepting terms of an initial investment of £54 million plus £8.7 million in add-ons.

Gyokeres is scheduled to sign a five-year contract with Arsenal after completing his medical on Saturday.

The 27-year-old has chosen his famous squad number after scoring an incredible 54 goals in all competitions the previous season.

Following the signings of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, and Cristhian Mosquera, Gyokeres will be Arsenal’s sixth summer acquisition.

Additionally, it seems like they will continue to look for fresh hires before the upcoming season.

Following the completion of the Gyokeres move, Arsenal is ‘aiming to swiftly secure’ Eberechi Eze, according to the Independent.

Given that the Swede is close to completing a contract at the Emirates, Arsenal is shifting its focus to other prospects.

According to the source, Eze is at the top of Mikel Arteta’s transfer wish list, and those close to the player are optimistic that a deal will be reached in the “next few weeks.”

Since joining Crystal Palace in the Premier League for £17 million in the summer of 2020 from Queens Park Rangers, the 27-year-old has been a standout player.

Since making his international debut in 2023, he has made 166 appearances for the Eagles in all competitions and has earned 11 caps for England.

Instead of the estimated £68 million release clause, Arsenal is aiming to agree on a cost of about £60 million.

Although there hasn’t been any official communication between Arsenal and Palace yet, it is suggested that both parties will be “flexible” as long as the two boardrooms get along well.

Arsenal would prefer to sell a player before pursuing a move for Eze, according to the source, but the signing is not dependent on that.

Any move might involve Reiss Nelson, who was on loan at Fulham for the second half of the previous campaign.
