Chido Obi-Martin, a rising talent for Arsenal, is supposedly in talks with Bayern Munich, despite his prior pledges of allegiance to the Gunners.

The 16-year-old wonder from the Arsenal youth has been drawing attention with his spectacular performances, so Arsenal fans were taken aback to hear that there may be talks with the Bundesliga’s biggest clubs. Obi-Martin had previously declared his respect for boss Mikel Arteta and his eagerness for Arsenal.

“He (Arteta) just praises me all the time and says nice things, so it’s very nice,” he said, relating his positive experiences. In addition, he expressed his wish to remain a member of the club by saying, “Of course it makes me proud.” I want to be at Arsenal for a very long time.”

But as talks between Arsenal and Obi-Martin stalled, Bayern Munich intervened, and Borussia Dortmund was also keeping an eye on the matter. Obi-Martin expressed optimism about his prospects at Arsenal even though he acknowledged he might not make the first team the following season. He pointed out the scarcity of strikers and the Club’s track record of developing young talent. “Maybe I will have to play permanently at Under-21 from next season,” he added.

“Since the squad doesn’t have many strikers, this will be a great chance for me. Young players are given the chance to play at Arsenal.”

It is said that Arsenal is still committed to keeping Obi-Martin in their ranks, even though there have been reports that the young talent turned down a scholarship renewal offer. The teenage sensation has caused quite a stir at Arsenal’s youth setup. In November 2023, he grabbed headlines around the world with an incredible ten goals, which helped the Gunners destroy Liverpool 14-3 in an Under-16 match.

It wasn’t just a one-time event however; in a different youth match in April of this year, he was once again on fire, netting seven goals as Arsenal easily defeated Norwich City 9-0.

Having scored 32 goals in just 18 Premier League 2 games the previous season and adding another 10 goals in 14 appearances for Denmark Under-17s, Obi-Martin has already demonstrated his goal-scoring ability. Not only have his performances drawn the attention of Arsenal supporters, but also that of former team member Jack Wilshere, who praised Arsenal’s efforts in developing players like Obi-Martin and talked about his rapid progress.

“He’s performed admirably. Wilshere spoke to Arsenal’s official website, saying, “I’ve said it before, but credit to everyone at the club and at Hale End for the work that they have done with him.” “He’s adjusted so well, and at times, he’s really helped the team.” Give his teammates some credit as well; they support him so well, and he is appreciative of that.”
