Arsenal ‘favourite’ made No 1 January target by Inter Milan, as Arteta begrudgingly accepts star may leave

Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has emerged as Inter Milan’s primary transfer target for January, with his valuation disclosed, while reports indicate that Mikel Arteta has begrudgingly acknowledged the possibility of losing the player during the season.

Tomiyasu serves as a valuable depth player in what was the most formidable defense in the Premier League last season. Given that Ben White, William Saliba, and Gabriel Magalhaes are all assured starters in the defense, left-back represents Tomiyasu’s optimal opportunity for consistent playing time.

However, with Jurrien Timber and new acquisition Riccardo Calafiori around, Tomiyasu’s prospects are grim.

A recent report from the Sun indicates that Tomiyasu, 25, has attracted the interest of Serie A clubs Inter Milan, Juventus, and Napoli. Among the three, Inter represents the most significant danger to Arsenal, as Simone Inzaghi’s team has identified Tomiyasu as their primary target for January.

Compounding the situation is the assertion that Tomiyasu, seen as a ‘favorite among supporters at the Emirates,’ is perceived to be ‘receptive to the prospect of a transfer.’

The report asserts that Arteta has acknowledged the possibility of losing the player in the New Year.

The Sun said that Arsenal will want a minimum of £25 million before approving a transfer.

Additional Arsenal defenders available
Fraser Gillan, TEAMtalk’s transfer insider, has reported that Arsenal is willing to move Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko, both of whom typically occupy the left-back position.

Considering that both players, particularly Tierney, are behind Tomiyasu in the hierarchy, it is logical that Arsenal would prioritize the sale of one of them before considering offers for Tomiyasu.

Arsenal has coincidentally been associated with a potential acquisition of Inter defender Yann Bisseck, who may be considered an enhancement over Tomiyasu.

However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano advises Arsenal supporters to temper their expectations for a potential acquisition of Bisseck.

In a conversation with Caught Offside, Romano stated: “I acknowledge that there have been reports connecting Arsenal to Yann Bisseck, but frankly, there is currently no substantial interest.”

No discussions, no communications, none to date. He is an essential contributor for Inter, having joined only one year ago; thus, they are not contemplating any changes at present, since Bisseck is performing exceptionally well.

Arsenal’s scouting operation / Five forwards evaluated
Arsenal allegedly saw two Girona players during their Champions League debut against PSG on Wednesday night. One played as a left-back.

TEAMtalk has confirmed that Arsenal is monitoring at least five elite attackers.

Marcus Thuram (Inter Milan), Alexander Isak (Newcastle), Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting CP), Jonathan David (Lille), and Benjamin Sesko (RB Leipzig) all under consideration by the Gunners.

Real Madrid is expressing interest in William Saliba, having scouted the French player during the north London derby on Sunday.

Real Madrid aims to acquire Trent Alexander-Arnold, Rodri, and either Saliba or Cristian Romero in a significant summer transfer window in 2025.

Edu is achieving remarkable results with Arsenal departures.
Arsenal has invested significantly over the past two summers, setting a transfer record by acquiring Declan Rice for £105 million.

To support their objectives, sports director Edu has excelled in managing player departures, securing substantial sums for first-team players who were primarily reserves.

In the past two summers, Arsenal has accrued £170.3 million (with add-ons) via the transfer of nine players.
