Ange Postecoglou tipped for shock move to Spurs’ Premier League rivals after being sacked by Europa League winners

Ange Postecoglou is expected to make a surprise switch to Spurs’ Premier League rivals after being fired by the Europa League winners.
Ange Postecoglou ended Spurs’ 17-year trophy drought, but was fired after a dismal Premier League performance.Ange Postecoglou, who was fired by Spurs only weeks after breaking their 17-year trophy drought, is expected to return to the Premier League as manager.

The Australian led Spurs to a close 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final in Bilbao, ensuring qualification for next season’s Champions League.

Despite his forecast of winning in his second season coming true, Postecoglou will not be given the opportunity to manage Spurs in his third season.

On Friday, it was announced that after a week of deliberation, Daniel Levy and Spurs had decided to dismiss Postecoglou of his duties following a 17th-place finish in the Premier League.

Postecoglou was fired, according to a club statement, following “a review of performances and significant reflection”.

The 59-year-old is apparently due a fee of £6 million, consisting of £4 million in compensation and an additional £2 million for winning the Europa League.

Ange Postecoglou slated for Premier League return after Spurs’ firing
However, a previous Premier League winner predicts Postecoglou will return soon.

Lee Sharpe, who won the top division three times with United and later played for Leeds and Bradford, believes he is “perfectly suited” to coaching in the Premier League and defends his playing style.

“I can see Ange Postecoglou managing another Premier League club,” Sharpe told Coin Poker.

“I think he’s a great fit for England’s top division; his personality and fast-paced football are ideal for the league.”

“He’s been very honest and straightforward in his approach; he has a clear vision of what he wants his players and squad to accomplish.

“When Spurs are fully fit, I believe they can match anyone. When they’re on top of their game, they can be lethal around the opposition’s box. They’ve struggled defensively at times, but I believe this is due to their two key center-backs being injured for so long.

“Some argue that Ange only has one game plan: to play full throttle for 90 minutes – and we have seen them get caught out in the process – but I like to watch his team; they’re always quick and energetic.”

Ange Postecoglou breaks his silence on Spurs sacking.
Postecoglou led Spurs to fifth place in the Premier League in his debut season, ending the club’s long trophy drought, although his dismissal was due to 22 domestic defeats.

In a lengthy message posted on Instagram by his agency CAA, Postecoglou thanked supporters and players for their support during his two-year stint.

“The opportunity to lead one of England’s historic football clubs and bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime,” Postecoglou told the crowd.

“I’ll never forget sharing that moment with everyone who truly loves our club and seeing the impact it has on them.

“That night in Bilbao marked the end of two years of hard labor, devotion, and unflinching belief in a dream. There were numerous hurdles to overcome, as well as a lot of noise, when attempting to accomplish something that many others believed was impossible.

“We have also established the groundwork for this club’s future victory, which should not take another 17 years. I have a lot of faith in this set of athletes and believe they have a lot of promise and growth ahead of them.

“I genuinely thank the supporters, who are the club’s lifeblood. I know there were some difficult periods, but I always felt like they wanted me to succeed, which gave me the incentive I needed to keep going. It’s vital to recognize the hardworking Spurs employees that encouraged me on a regular basis.

“Finally, I’d like to thank those who have been with me every day for the past two years. A terrific group of young men who are now football club legends, as well as brilliant coaches who never doubted our ability to achieve something exceptional.”

Tottenham’s chosen replacement for Postecoglou appears to be Brentford manager Thomas Frank, who has done a good job in west London.
