After making remarks about Benjamin Sesko, an Arsenal transfer target, in the transfer market, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou had the ITV studio in stitches.

ITV’s analysis of Slovenia’s dull draw with England on Tuesday focused on striker Sesko, who was previously being watched by Arsenal due to his impressive play for RB Leipzig.

Sesko was amenable to the thought of Arsenal activating his £55 million buy-out option at RB Leipzig, but in the end, he committed his future to the Bundesliga team and gave up on the possibility of joining Emirates.

Postecoglou weighed in on ITV, saying that he believed a major club would have given him a look this season and that staying there for another year was a wise decision. He still has room to grow, in my opinion, but he has excellent qualities for a striker.”

“Is that the Tottenham manager saying it’s a smart move not to go to Arsenal?” asked ITV’s presenter Mark Pougatch in a swift response, to which Postecogolou replied, “No comment.” And after his snappy response, Gary Neville, Ian Wright, and Roy Keane were left stunned.

Sesko gave an explanation for his presence in Leipzig after agreeing to a new contract. “I had a great first year at RB Leipzig and am really happy to be here,” he stated. The whole package—team, club, city, fans—is just amazing in my opinion. For me, the early contract extension made sense as a next move.

Despite the fact that I didn’t play or score as much in the season’s first half, this stage of growth was crucial for me. I am surrounded by a lot of trust and appreciation at the club, which is essential to my ability to give my best work. I was able to return the favour with my goals, especially in the second half of the season.

Our squad is full of talented players that are evenly distributed between young and seasoned players. I’m eager to move forward with our team and take new challenges. In my first season, we’ve already accomplished a lot and frequently demonstrated the calibre and exceptional football we can play. However, there is still more to be done, and that is now our shared objective.
