Ange Postecoglou Bemoans Reaction to Decisions That Go Against Liverpool and Tottenham

The supporters of Anfield have responded to Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou’s recent claims that there is a “national campaign” when refereeing or VAR decisions go against Liverpool.

Enzo Fernandez’s goal in the all-London match separated the two teams, as the north Londoners suffered their 16th defeat of the Premier League season as Chelsea defeated them 1-0 on Thursday night. With 34 points from 30 games, Spurs are currently in 14th place.

Inferring

“The only voice you hear is me,” he remarked, implying that more club icons, particularly those on the punditry circuit, should support the 59-year-old and his team more. There seem to be a lot more voices when discussing the larger teams.

Not always defending, either. You also need to be examined and given helpful criticism. We never receive any of the other things, but we certainly get enough of it. With Tottenham, it seems like there is always a real pile-on to poke a finger in a sore, after which we just kind of accept our lot in life.

Another concern was brought up by Postecoglou, one of the Premier League’s highest-paid managers at the moment. He maintained that the post-match emphasis was concerning following his team’s 1-0 loss to Chelsea on Thursday night.

The former Celtic manager maintained that the focus should be on the six-minute VAR halt that led to the goal being ruled offside, despite the fact that his interaction with Tottenham supporters following Pape Matar Sarr’s equaliser at Stamford Bridge received a lot of attention.

On Thursday night, Tottenham dropped to 14th place in the Premier League after suffering yet another humiliating loss.

According to Mail Online, he stated, “I would have assumed that would be the story, but it’s not.” Because I enjoy celebrating goals, I am losing interest in the game. I did that [on Thursday], and I’m paying a hefty price for it. I think that’s sort of sad, but I’ll make sure I don’t do that again.”

Additionally, he acknowledged that Liverpool had benefited from favourable treatment in talks with Tottenham over the years. “We’ve lost two games against Liverpool in the time I’ve been here, and there was practically a national campaign.”

Liverpool fans have voiced their frustration with Postecoglou’s remarks, particularly after Luis Diaz’s goal was mistakenly disallowed in September 2023. “Oh, shut up, Ange,” one person wrote. Before you start hurling stones, take care of your own house.

Another admirer said, “This guy is going crazy.” He ought just give up today and go have fun. He is degrading himself pointlessly. Finally, a third fan said: “I recall that not so long ago, I had a slight affection for Ange. Guy isn’t enjoying himself at all, and I won’t be upset if he leaves at this time.

Next Thursday, Tottenham will face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League quarterfinal in an effort to turn around an otherwise disappointing season. Postecoglou’s future with the squad may depend on how they perform in Europe.
