Amad Diallo posts emotional statement after suffering injury in training as source makes worrying claim

An emotional statement was posted on social media by Amad Diallo, who described himself as “extremely disappointed” after suffering damage to his ankle ligament during a training session, which occurred this week.

Under Ruben Amorim’s leadership, the 22-year-old player has been one of the most impressive performers for Manchester United. He is currently the club’s leading scorer for the current campaign, having scored six goals in his last 14 appearances across all competitions.

The Ivorian has flourished in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation, which is a departure from Erik ten Hag’s management at Old Trafford, where he was used sparingly during his two and a half years in charge.

However, the Portuguese head coach will have to deal with the absence of Amad in the coming months as a result of the injury he sustained to his ankle ligaments prior to their Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

According to a report from PA, Amad is still being evaluated after the incident that occurred on the training ground; however, a source from United suggests that it is “touch and go” with regard to whether or not he will play again this season.

In order to confirm the news of his injury, Amad took to social media and insisted that he will return to the game stronger than ever before.

“Extremely disappointed to be writing this message in such a crucial time of the season,” he wrote on X, which was formerly known as Twitter.

To my regret, I will be absent for a considerable amount of time due to an injury. I will return, more powerful than I have ever been! It’s time to provide the boys with support from the outside. Still a lot of ground to make up.”

It would appear that a number of first-team players will not be available for United’s match against Spurs. Among those who will be absent is Kobbie Mainoo, who is anticipated to be sidelined for more than two weeks.

Due to injuries sustained during training, Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer are also expected to be absent from the match that will take place on Sunday in North London.

It has been reported by Scoop that Chido Obi-Martin, a highly regarded forward, has travelled with the first-team squad of Manchester United. Other academy players who have accompanied him include Sekou Kone, Harry Amass, Jack Moorhouse, and Elyh Harrison.

Following the most recent round of injuries and departures that occurred in January, which included Marcus Rashford and Antony, it would appear that Amorim has changed his mind about including Chido Obi-Martin in his squad.

Upon being questioned about the possibility of providing the striker, who is only 17 years old, with first-team playing time, the Portuguese coach dismissed the idea.

“He’s doing his job, he’s improving, he’s playing in the youth teams, and we have also other players that can play in that position,” Amorim stated at the beginning of this month.

“Rasmus [Hojlund] and Josh [Zirkzee] are there, we bought these two players, so we need to improve them and then sometimes the confidence can change a player.”
