Unfortunately, injuries are a common occurrence for all 20 Premier League teams. Clubs in England’s top flight, from title contenders Manchester City to strugglers Wolverhampton Wanderers, do everything they can behind the scenes to keep their players from picking up minor injuries – or, at the very least, to shorten their time out of action.
As is the case with any season, some teams are hit harder than others, and this has happened again in 2025/26.
As it stands, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have stolen a march on the top of the standings; reigning champions Liverpool are struggling, and three teams at the bottom are struggling more than others. But which teams have been the hardest struck by injuries? Using Opta data and a detailed analysis from Sky Sports, we examined the injury histories of all 20 Premier League teams this season.
Total number of injuries.

Let us begin by rating each squad in the most simplistic method possible: the total number of injuries sustained by all 20 teams in England’s top division. For reference, if a player has separate injuries, they can count as two injuries for his respective teams.
As expected, a few teams have fared worse in terms of injuries sustained between the start of the 2025/26 season in mid-August and now. Pep Guardiola’s City, who went trophyless in 2024/25 and will be eager to rebound, are among those who may feel shortchanged when considering their number of injuries.
The Citizens have had to contend for much of the early stages of the season without Rodri at the heart of their midfield; the Spaniard missed a significant portion of last season, and his injury-prone character has carried over into the new season. Overall, they’ve sustained 21 separate injuries.
Daniel Farke-managed Leeds United comes next with 19, while top four aspirants Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool – two teams that are expected to finish at the top of the table by May – have all dealt with injury concerns in the first few weeks of 2025/26.
With 18 injuries each, Arne Slot’s reigning champions have had to compete without the likes of Alisson Becker and Enzo Maresca. Chelsea has been without players such as Levi Colwill and Cole Palmer. Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace, their rivals Brighton & Hove Albion, and Aston Villa have all sustained 17 individual injuries since August.
Regis Le Bris’ high-flying Sunderland side is demonstrating that good recruitment may help ease the transition from England’s second to first division – and they’ve dealt with 13 injuries, the same number as rivals Newcastle United. Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brentford have each experienced 13 injuries since the start of the season.

Fulham’s relatively fortuitous tally of 12 – which includes Joachim Andersen, Samuel Chukwueze, Emile Smith Rowe, and others – ranks them among the more fortunate teams in England. Burnley, Nottingham Forest, and Everton follow with 11. Bournemouth and West Ham United have each suffered ten.
Manchester United are at the opposite end of the spectrum from Guardiola’s players. The Red Devils’ roster has been plagued by injuries throughout the years, but that is no longer the case. Ruben Amorim and his teammates have only suffered eight injuries, which may be due to the fact that they do not compete in Europe.

Days Lost Due to Injuries

Although it is crucial to look at how many injuries each team has sustained, such a statistic does not account for the severity of each injury; for example, one injury could last a few days while another could terminate the season. So, which teams have been plagued by injuries for the longest period?
That would be Thomas Frank’s Spurs, who have missed an eye-catching total of 516 days due to injuries this season. James Maddison was stretchered off during his team’s pre-season match against Newcastle, and he has been out since the beginning of the season. Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke are two of the club’s long-term absentees.
Sunderland, despite a wonderful start in the promised land, have been without some of their finest players for a total of 454 days. Crystal Palace, the reigning FA Cup champions, are just 444 days behind, with Chelsea’s 440 days missed putting them in the top four.
Brighton, City, and Arsenal, who have been without the talismanic Martin Odegaard for quite some time, follow with totals of 382, 364, and 362 days missed due to injury, respectively, with Liverpool following closely behind with 297 days missed.
Engine room patroller Youri Tielemans is among those who have been injured for Unai Emery’s Villa since the season began a few months ago – in total, the Spanish manager has had to deal with 276 days missing due to his squad’s injury issues.
