Alexander Isak is predicted to make a stunning U-turn and remain at Newcastle, dealing Liverpool a serious blow.
Despite requesting to consider his options this summer, Alexander Isak has been supported to stay at Newcastle United.
Despite Liverpool’s pursuit, Alexander Isak is predicted to do a spectacular U-turn and remain at Newcastle United.
After telling Newcastle that he wanted to look into his alternatives this summer, Isak’s future became more uncertain and he became the focus of strong transfer rumours.
The star forward has not accompanied the team on their preseason tour of Asia, according to an update from Eddie Howe.
Additionally, he has taken extreme measures to compel a move out of St. James’ Park, and Liverpool is monitoring his circumstances before perhaps putting in an offer.
Isak has been supported to remain at Newcastle before the 2025–2026 season, despite his position.
There is yet hope for Newcastle, according to Keith Wyness, the former CEO of Everton from 2004 to 2009 and current head of a football company that advises elite teams.
He feels Isak could alter his mind as he mentioned Morgan Gibbs-White, who signed a new term at Nottingham Forest, having seemed poised to join Tottenham.
“It’s one of those where Eddie has got to take him to one side and also the club have got to reconsider his new contract situation, if they could resolve that,” he stated on the podcast The Inside Track.
“Morgan Gibbs-White, there was a recent instance where everything was almost finalised and someone was leaving, but then everything was turned upside down. Isak might be in that circumstance.
“I believe he genuinely like Newcastle, but he feels like they let him down after promising him something. In my opinion, they must fulfil the terms of the new deal before Eddie Howe can persuade him to stay. Therefore, there is yet hope in this case.
The club will need to reevaluate it because it’s going to be one of those. However, clubs find it hard to accept humble pie.
Wyness said that in order to keep Isak satisfied at the club, Newcastle have to offer him a new contract.
“If they were able to get him to sign the new contract, they’ve already seen that he could be going for £150m to £200m,” he stated. “So why not maintain his happiness by investing in that asset?
In terms of discussions with him and his agent, I simply don’t know how bad things have gotten or whether they can’t be fixed.
“I would hope not, and that Eddie Howe could make some sense and that the owners realise they have a valuable asset.
It would be crucial for them to have him this season if they want to go to the next level. Therefore, I’m hopeful they can make it better. Nothing is lost.
After moving from Real Sociedad to Newcastle in the summer of 2022, Isak has been there ever since.
In his 109 games for the team, he has scored an outstanding 62 goals.
