Alejandro Garnacho’s Unusual Neck Tattoo Translated

Alejandro Garnacho has attracted attention with an intriguing new neck tattoo, which he appears to have had done since leaving Manchester United for Chelsea.

The 21-year-old, who left Old Trafford for Stamford Bridge at the end of the summer transfer window for £40 million, already had a number of tattoos on his body, including a reference to the classic 2000s television serial Prison Break on his arm.

Garnacho has, however, followed in the footsteps of his old Manchester United ‘Bomb Squad’ colleague Antony by having a tattoo on his neck. What does it say, and what does it mean?

It is not surprising that the words on Argentina’s neck are written in Spanish, given that she was born and raised in Madrid. The winger, who has a Spanish father, could have played for Spain at the international level, but he chose to represent his mother’s country.

“I am Argentinian. My mother’s entire family is from Argentina, where they have always lived. “And my father is from Spain,” Garnacho stated in 2023. “My mother’s family relocated to Spain, where she met my father, and I was born. I am really close to my mother’s family, and we have always supported the national team since I was a child.

“I didn’t have to think twice because I feel Argentine and am Argentinian. They had faith in me, and it was evident to me. It’s a fantastic team, an incredible chance, and the entire family is overjoyed and has been there for me since the beginning.”

Back to the neck tattoo, the words are: “Nuncio es suerte, simpre es Dios.” In English, this statement would be: “It’s never luck, it’s always God.”

It’s evident that Garnacho attributes his professional success to a higher force, and he’ll be expecting that supernatural intervention would help him achieve glory with his new employers.

While Garnacho has failed to establish himself as a Premier League starter under Enzo Maresca, he has started two cup games for Chelsea: one against Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup and one against Benfica in the Champions League.

Garnacho delivered the cross that Benfica’s Richard Rios mistakenly put into his own net for the game’s only goal. The South American will be hoping that he has done enough to secure a starting spot for Chelsea’s next league match against reigning champions Liverpool.
