Amr Zedan, a US-Saudi billionaire, is in advanced talks to purchase Preston North End, with a transaction at Deepdale nearing completion.
Preston look destined for another mid-table season in the EFL Championship, having fallen out of the play-off places under Paul Heckingbottom despite a strong start to the season.
Little investment has been made in the club over the years, with their record signing still being the £2.1 million deal to bring Montenegrin forward Milutin Osmajic to Lancashire, so it’s not surprising that they’ve dropped out of the top six, especially with numerous Championship rivals outspending them on almost every front.
However, Preston’s days of spending little may be coming to an end soon, with a probable regime shift at the club’s helm ushering in a new era.
Amr Zedan might become the new owner of Preston North End if a deal is reached.

Everything could be about to change at Deepdale, with Los Angeles-born Saudi investor Zedan in talks to buy Preston from the Hemmings family in a transaction worth roughly £12-£15 million.
Zedan was sighted as a VIP guest for the Lilywhites’ 1-1 draw at home against Queens Park Rangers on Monday, as well as their 2-2 draw with Leicester City on Saturday, as the 51-year-old remains outspoken about his desire to buy the club.
With Zedan in talks to buy Preston, Football League World’s Lilywhites fan pundit, Darren, has shared his opinion on the possible takeover and how he feels about the club being sold.
Darren added, “To be completely honest with you, I can’t wait for this to happen. Although simply rumors, the journey to Deepdale and previous media coverage have likely contributed to the current situation. So, absolutely, I understand we need to be cautious about this.
In light of Derby County’s experience with a businessman who lacked sufficient funds for the team, caution should be exercised. Is this the ideal man to take over Preston North End and all of its responsibilities? Because, whether you like it or not, it is unquestionably one of the world’s most prestigious clubs. It is a founding member of the Football League, having won the first league, our initial league, and the FA Cup,
as well as going undefeated that season. So we have some weight to our name.”Personally, it has been a long time coming. I believe we require a different direction, a new, fresh approach, and this is it. I feel like this is something different. We need a clean slate.
This means everything. “We need to improve everything this time around.”If he decides to join the club or invest, we must ensure that the funds are allocated appropriately. The main focus should be on the pitch, stadium amenities, and players themselves.
Our main goal is to get out of the Championship once and for all and into the Premiership, the top division in the English pyramid, for the first time in a decade, well, not a decade, but since the 1960s, when Preston North End was last in the top flight. So it’s been a long time coming.
“Yeah, it’s just one of those things. It’s been a long time coming, and this person really has to step in and simply buy the club, because I’m rubbing my hands here just waiting for this man and the news to come out that the club has been acquired, and we can start over with a fresh, clean slate, and hopefully go for promotion.”
Preston’s new ownership could influence the club’s transfer strategy.

Preston has never been one to flaunt their wealth throughout their history, but that might all change if Zedan takes over at Deepdale.
Certainly, a large amount of investment is expected in the club if the takeover is completed, with Zedan likely wanting to assist steer Preston back to the top flight after a long absence.
While the Lilywhites have certainly established themselves in the second tier with minimal spending over the years, many Preston fans will be frustrated by their lack of fight at the top end of the division and would like to see more investment in the playing squad to help with this.
There are no promises that Zedan will spend more than their current owners, but there’s no reason fans shouldn’t aspire.
