The legendary Jason McAteer of Liverpool feels that Kai Havertz was fortunate not to receive a second yellow card in the moments leading up to his game-winning goal against Brentford.

After Nathan Collins’ challenge, which referee Paul Tierney chose to be forgiving of, the German international seemed to land a bit too easily. Havertz went on to score a late winner that preserved Arsenal’s title hopes, much to the annoyance of Bees manager Thomas Frank in the aftermath.

McAtee, who was already booked for a foul after being sent off in the 65th minute, was unwavering in his post-match analysis with beIN SPORTS, stating that the call was incorrect.

The 52-year-old former Liverpool player said, “I agree with [Dwight] Yorke that it was such a big decision for such a pivotal moment in the game.” “It was late in the game, late on, and it is wrong isn’t it?”

With just four minutes left at the Emirates Stadium, Havertz scored a crucial goal to preserve Mikel Arteta’s team’s title hopes, keeping the Gunners competitive at the top of the Premier League standings with just ten games to go.

Regarding Havertz, Arteta repeated, “I’m so happy,” during his post-match press conference on Saturday. “I would have been hard-pressed to believe if someone had told me, after the first two or three months, that the entire stadium would be singing his song with that much fervor, feeling, and chemistry. That’s what decent people experience. He is a very talented player.”
