Man Utd handed positive Mason Mount update with midfielder set to return ahead of schedule from hamstring injury

Manchester United has received an encouraging news about Mason Mount’s hamstring injury, as the midfielder is expected to return to the pitch earlier than anticipated.

Mount sustained a hamstring issue last month.
Has been progressively integrated into team training. May return to play later in September. Article continues below.

Mount’s injury, incurred during the first half of the Brighton encounter in early August, resulted in his substitution at halftime. Subsequent to the match, the club said that it was “a minor injury setback that would preclude him from participating in several games.”

As reported by Manchester Evening News, Mount has resumed full training ahead of schedule, increasing the likelihood of his availability for selection before the month’s end. This development is a welcome reprieve for United, as the midfielder has proven essential to Erik Ten Hag’s reconfigured pressing scheme.

During a news conference preceding United’s next Carabao Cup encounter against Barnsley, Ten Hag expressed optimism on Mount’s recovery, stating that the player is “progressing” in his rehabilitation. Since his transfer from Chelsea last summer, Mount has struggled to regain his optimal performance, making only 14 Premier League matches due to a chronic calf injury. Despite commencing the year well with strong performances in the initial two league matches, an unforeseen hamstring injury has posed a setback for the England international, who is keen to reclaim his position in the starting lineup and exert a more substantial influence.

United have a demanding schedule in September, with four further matches to contest. Their subsequent match is a third-round EFL Cup encounter against Barnsley on Tuesday, after by an away game at Crystal Palace in the league. They will thereafter host Twente in the Europa League and Tottenham in the Premier League to conclude this month. The participation of Mount in the pivotal match against the North London team on September 29 is still to be determined.
