The UK Telegraph reports that professional football will test the use of blue cards as part of a sin-bin experiment.
This will be the first widely used new card color in fifty years.
Football cards are currently only used in two colors: yellow and red.
However, the report states that the groundbreaking decision will be announced by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) on Friday.
As part of new regulations, players who commit cynical fouls or display disrespect for a match official will be taken out of the game for ten minutes.
In a match, players would now be eliminated if they were dealt two blue cards or a combination of a blue and a yellow card.
This summer may see the start of elite trials, though elite contests won’t be included in the first round.
