Fer López reveals what Sean Neave did during Wolves’ clash with Bristol City as fresh twist emerges from the club.

Fer Lopez, a Wolverhampton Wanderers playmaker, took to social media after fellow attacker and Newcastle United loanee Sean Neave scored twice to secure a late but crucial three points against Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

The Old Gold and Black had won three of their last four games prior to Wednesday night’s meeting in BS3, but their recent good fortune was jeopardised when Scott Twine put Michael Skubala’s side ahead after 34 minutes with a spectacular free-kick.

Despite dominating the Robins, Cesar Peixoto’s troops appeared to be losing hope of winning the game.

That was until the 19-year-old was introduced with 17 minutes remaining, and he levelled the scores nine minutes later, tapping in after Bradley Collins passed Adam Armstrong’s effort into his path.

After scoring his first senior goal, the centre-forward headed home Kieran Trippier’s free-kick in the final minute of normal time in front of the travelling fans, securing Wolves’ automatic promotion.

Following Peixoto’s criticism from some fans, Wolves’ recent form has given fans plenty of reason to be optimistic.

This season, the Portuguese team has scored 25 goals from all angles, with Lopez accounting for the majority of them, with six goals in 13 appearances.

However, the Spaniard wasn’t at his free-flowing best against Bristol City, but the decision to replace him with Neave late on was certainly justified by those game-changers.

The attacking duo have clearly developed a strong relationship, with Lopez taking to Instagram in the Ashton Gate dressing room and posting a photo of himself and the England youth international with the caption: “Come on my kid,” followed by three hearts in Wolves colours.

Neave has had to bide his time after joining on loan from the Magpies on Deadline Day, with the majority of his 153 minutes of Championship action coming in the last month due to multiple injury setbacks in Peixoto’s assault.

The striker provided his first assist for Lopez’s equaliser in the comeback win against Burnley on October 16th, but when he discovered himself to be solely responsible for yet another late turnaround in the West Country, he was understandably pleased.

“I’m just in shock,” he stated after the game. “”My goal as a new player was to contribute to the team and make an impact.”Coming on and scoring two goals meant a lot, especially in a game when we were losing but were able to turn things around and win 2-1. I’m still in shock, honestly. “I have no words,” he added.

Wolves and Newcastle United supporters will both enjoy Sean Neave’s escapades

In a short period of time, Neave’s three goal contributions have boosted what may be two important victories for Wolves in the promotion race following an unimpressive start, and more could be on the way between now and May.

Peixoto will be hoping that is the case, especially with Raul Jimenez still out until January, and those watching his improvement in the North East will be delighted about the forward’s future career.

Trippier, who worked with Neave on Tyneside, praised the youngster’s hard ethic at full-time, which will only add to his feelings, while the full-back and his teammate will now focus on Saturday’s game against Wrexham.
