Members of the Southampton management have expressed disappointment with the acts of EFL chairman Rick Parry, who attended the club’s recent match against Birmingham City at St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park.

That is according to Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail, with the Saints’ 1-1 draw against Chris Davies’ side scheduled for September 1st.

The Hampshire team and their German head coach, Tonda Eckert, have found themselves in hot water with the aforementioned regulating body following the now-infamous Spygate affair, which surfaced in the final week of the 2025/26 Championship season.

Southampton were eliminated from the play-off final despite defeating Middlesbrough in their two-legged semi-final back in May, after it was revealed that Eckert had instructed analysts to oversee training sessions involving Kim Hellberg’s side, as well as Ipswich Town and Oxford United.

The Football Association has since charged Eckert with misconduct under rule E3.1, while Southampton entered the current season with a four-point deficit, which has been quickly erased due to the club’s performance in their first seven league games.

Eckert kept his feelings about what might happen close to his chest ahead of Saturday’s 4-1 win against Bristol City at St Mary’s, which has reduced the possibility of distractions for his players, who have only lost once this season while scoring 18 goals.
