Derby striker Henrik Meister was stretchered off in a neck brace after falling off the ball during the match against Birmingham.
The unsettling events occurred at the opening of the second half at Pride Park, when the Dane went down, leading play to be temporarily suspended.
Medical personnel arrived on the pitch shortly after the player appeared to have sustained a head injury, and a stretcher was summoned for.
A seven-minute wait occurred as Meister underwent treatment, and it became evident that the player would be unable to continue.
Meister was eventually placed on a stretcher and brought off the pitch to a standing ovation from both sets of spectators.
Derby reported the incident at the time on X, writing: “A significant delay at the opening of the half as Meister goes down off the ball and is stretchered off the field.

The team has yet to provide an update on Meister’s condition.
The 22-year-old was making his Derby debut in a 3-0 Championship defeat to West Ham last weekend.
Meister signed a season-long loan from Serie B team Pisa less than two weeks ago.

At halftime, Blues manager Chris Davies made an early substitute, replacing Jhon Solis in midfield with Paik.
The switch paid off almost immediately, as the South Korean headed home from Liam Millar’s corner.
Derby had hoped to jump out of the Championship relegation zone before the game.
