Salford City has appointed Jill Scott as their top women’s football advisor.

The former England midfielder will train with the Women’s First Team and Academy at the Ammies.

Scott’s return to football comes after she retired in 2022.

The 39-year-old has now established a media career, appearing on The Overlap as a pundit alongside Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Roy Keane, and Ian Wright.

She has now joined Salford, which is owned by a group that includes Neville and David Beckham.

While the men’s first team competes in League Two, the women’s squad is in the sixth tier of English football.

Salford City Lionesses have won their first two matches in the North West Women’s Regional League Division One Central.

Their first match since Scott’s arrival as an advisor is at home against Bury on Sunday.

Scott joined Salford City.

In addition to Scott’s hiring, Salford has welcomed investment from AIG.

The American insurance company has become the Lionesses’ biggest minority stock holder.
