Wrexham are hoping for a dramatic conclusion to the summer transfer window, with Phil Parkinson compiling a five-man shortlist of prospective offensive recruits before the September 1st deadline.

Things have rarely been quiet in Wrexham in recent years, and with less than a day till the summer transfer deadline, that does not appear to be changing anytime soon.

According to Alan Nixon’s Patreon page, the North Wales club has a shortlist of five players they want to trade within the next 24 hours, including some intriguing names.

Wrexham has Portsmouth’s Adrian Segecic and Bristol City’s Scott Twine in their sights.

Segecic, 22, made 16 direct goal contributions in 38 Championship appearances for Pompey last season, his first year in the Championship after joining from Sydney FC for a modest £200,000.

According to The News Portsmouth, the Croatian has also piqued the interest of Championship rivals Birmingham City, but as things stand, the offensive midfielder is expected to stay at Fratton Park after the deadline, though Wrexham may have a say in that.

Michael Skubala left Scott Twine out of Bristol City’s first two games of the season, in the League Cup against Walsall and in the league against Millwall, generating speculation over his future.

However, the Englishman has started both of the following games, and Skubala has stated that the 27-year-old is ‘a significant part’ of Ashton Gate’s plans.

Though Wrexham have the funds to entice the Robins to sell, the former MK Dons and Burnley player is on their shortlist as a potential alternative once the transfer window closes.

Wrexham could go for Crystal Palace’s Romain Esse after the Club Brugge deal collapsed.

Crystal Palace winger Romain Esse’s future is up in the air, with just a day or so till the transfer deadline, and the England youth international has no clear playing role for the upcoming season.

A move to Belgian club Club Brugge was planned this summer, but the deal fell through, leaving the 21-year-old out in the cold and without a clear role in Pierre Sage’s Palace side for the season.

According to Nixon, Wrexham have regarded the Millwall academy graduate as a possible possibility before the deadline, with the Racecourse Ground one of the few remaining alternatives for the winger to find a home for the season.

Wrexham is chasing agreements for Sheffield United’s Callum O’Hare and Ipswich Town’s Anis Mehmeti.

The Star reported on Sunday evening that Wrexham had expressed interest in Sheffield United offensive midfielder Callum O’Hare, and it has since been revealed that the Welsh club bid roughly £6.5 million for the former Coventry star on the eve of the deadline.

O’Hare, 28, has been an ever-present in the Blades side since joining on a free transfer from the Sky Blues in the summer of 2024, and with Sheffield United’s financial woes, losing him at this stage would be a huge blow to Chris Wilder’s team.

Nixon has reported that Wrexham are interested in Ipswich Town offensive midfielder Anis Mehmeti, but a deal for the 25-year-old appears to be tricky.

According to Nixon, Mehmeti has already piqued Derby County’s attention, and Birmingham City has also attempted to bring the former Bristol City star to St Andrews, but it appears that he prefers to stay put and fight for his spot at Portman Road.

Under Gary O’Neil, the Albanian faces stiff competition and has yet to appear in a matchday squad for the club.

Each of these candidates is anticipated to play one of the attacking-midfield roles behind the main centre-forward in Parkinson’s preferred 3-4-2-1 formation, as the former Bradford City manager hopes for a successful end to the window.
