Trabzonspor is interested in signing Mohamed Toure after he scored twice in Norwich City’s 4-1 win over Burnley.

The 22-year-old Australian forward has only been with Norwich City since January, having coming from Randers FC. Few could have imagined his explosive performance at Carrow Road after a modest record with the Danish club.

Mo Toure scored ten goals and assisted three in his first 12 games for Norwich, before starting the current season with three goals and an assist in four appearances. He has now scored more goals than he has played for Norwich.

After scoring 13 goals in only 16 games, he was always going to be on the radar of possible suitors. A 21-year-old striker scoring at such a fantastic pace in the Championship while still in his early stages of development is certain to pique the interest of clubs further up the footballing ladder.

Toure’s record suggests that Norwich have found a forward with exceptional goal-scoring instincts, and his age just adds to his appeal. When a young player combines a proven end product with obvious potential for growth, transfer interest is unavoidable.

According to journalist and transfer analyst Rudy Galetti, Turkish giants Trabzonspor have made an official proposal to Norwich for Toure with only a few days till the English transfer deadline.

He adds that the Championship club is now unwilling to allow the striker leave, but Trabzonspor has scheduled additional talks for today as they continue to pursue him. Norwich have been favoured to receive £20 million for Toure, after Hull City and Sporting CP expressed interest earlier this summer via Galetti on X.

If Toure leaves, Norwich are expected to sign Jamie Vardy, but the club also has other strikers on the roster. Norwich might perhaps allow Toure’s exit if the appropriate offer comes in, especially if the money can be reinvested in areas of the team that still need to be strengthened.

Philippe Clement has more attacking options, with Jovon Makama nearing a return and Ante Crnac scoring on his recovery from a long-term injury. Mathias Kvistgaarden has also had a good start to the season, giving the Canaries more depth and competition up front.

With only a few days until the transfer deadline, there may not be enough time to successfully reinvest any sale revenues. Norwich may thus retain their squad together until January, reassess their situation, and potentially expect a higher sum if Toure’s goals have helped propel them to a top league place.

That may be the optimal course of action, but each participant has a cost. That is still the case until the very last minute, which is why fans should not assume the issue is ended, especially because the Turkish transfer deadline ends three days after England’s window.
