Burnley have submitted a multi-million-pound offer for an attacking midfielder as they look to strengthen their squad.

This summer, Burnley is preparing an offer of about €8 million (£6.8 million) for Marcel Regula, a midfielder for Zagłębie Lubin. Nicky Hayen wants to establish his dominance over the Clarets team before the transfer deadline.

Burnley is prepared to make a significant seven-figure bid for Regula, who excelled in the Ekstraklasa last season, according to Polish daily Meczyki.

As he did last year, Regula has started this season for Zagłębie Lubin in style. With Burnley hanging around, the 19-year-old may be able to get his team a club-record fee before the summer transfer window closes.

In exchange for Marcel Regula, Burnley is willing to pay Zagłębie Lubin a club record.

Before establishing himself as a regular last season, Regula, 19, made his first-team professional debut in the 2024–25 season, scoring once and dishing out three assists in just nine games.

Regula can play anywhere on the front line. Last season, he filled in for Zagłębie Lubin at attacking midfield, right midfield, and even centre forward, scoring five goals and providing three assists in 31 league games.

Zian Flemming’s late brace gave the Clarets a point to start their rule under Belgian manager Nicky Hayen, and Burnley saved a draw after falling behind 2-0 at home on the first day.

Since coming from Genk, Hayen has added four players: Ugo Raghouber, Ben Amos, Max Alleyne, and Dastan Satpaev. The 46-year-old hopes to further establish his dominance at Turf Moor with more additions; Regula may be the next in line, though they will have competition from German team 1.FC Koln.

As Hayen continues his search for more reinforcements, Football League World recently exclusively disclosed that Burnley has joined Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion in the competition for free agent Will Smallbone this summer.

For what reason does Nicky Hayen want Marcel Regula to join Burnley?

This summer has seen a lot of departures in Lancashire, as many members of the Burnley team from the previous campaign have subsequently left the team due to relegation.

Since the Clarets’ return to the Championship, players including Martin Dubravka, Jaidon Anthony, Loum Tchaouna, Maxime Esteve, Florentino, Lesley Ugochukwu, and Quilindschy Hartman have all left.

Despite this, only Alleyne and Raghouber were signed under Hayen’s leadership of the team that started against West Ham on the first day, and Amos is clearly a backup option behind Max Weiss.

Marcus Edwards on the right wing and Aaron Ramsey through the middle would have an additional option thanks to Regula, who might develop into a superb player at Turf Moor at the age of 19.

Despite his advanced age, Regula has already made around fifty appearances for Zagłębie Lubin. Although he might not be a first choice when he moves to Lancashire, he will undoubtedly give Hayen fierce competition.

What is the response of Burnley supporters to the Marcel Regula connections?

Clarets fans have flocked to social media to express their opinions about the possible transfer after learning that Burnley is drafting a formal offer for Regula.

Burnley’s challenge of signing Regula is far from simple because 1.FC Koln is interested in the Pole. Their recruitment team must make every effort to persuade him that this is the right move for his future.
