We’re in the final month of the summer transfer window, and Sheffield United still has a lot of work to do.

The Blades have only made two additions so far, bringing in Matt Docherty on a free transfer and Romelle Donovan on loan, while Jairo Riedewald signed a new contract, despite the fact that it did not appear possible in the immediate aftermath of last season’s finish.

Chris Wilder will undoubtedly aim to add more players to help bolster the squad and return to play-off contention, but with this being their first transfer window as a Championship side without Premier League parachute payments, money is obviously tight.

Andre Brooks has been the most high-profile departure this summer, leaving for Championship rivals Norwich City for £8 million, and he is unlikely to be the only important sale between now and September 1.

Jimmy, the host of the Blades Ramble and FLW’s Sheffield United fan commentator, believes these players will not be at Bramall Lane in a month.

Sydie Peck

It’s been a while since Brentford, Nottingham Forest, and West Ham United were all interested in Sydie Peck, but Jimmy believes that interest will return as the window nears its end.

Last season, the 21-year-old was one of the Championship’s most versatile defensive midfielders.

In addition to scoring his first goals for the club and contributing nine goals in the league, he ranked in the top 10% of defensive midfielders in terms of defensive contributions, recoveries, and duels won, according to FotMob.”I would expect Sydie Peck to leave,” the fan commentator stated. “Nothing is a guaranty, but he’s the most likely to leave.”There is a lot of interest in him, and he is a highly marketable item. Coventry City, which lost Gustavo Hamer to the Blades when they were newly promoted to the Premier League in 2023, is interested in the Dutchman.

Sheffield United is preparing for a potential second proposal.Obviously, Gus Hamer is the subject of much conversation, given his contract has only one year remaining. Jimmy remarked, “That could go any way.”

While Sheffield United remain solid on their player valuation for Hamer, the Dutchman’s exit from Bramall Lane may appear much easier, given the Blades risk losing him for free in June at the end of his contract if he does not go immediately.

Harrison Burrows

Furthermore, Jimmy believes that Sheffield United should consider selling Harrison Burrows in order to maximise the revenues they can receive for him.

The 24-year-old was influential under Chris Wilder during the 2024/25 season, scoring 12 goals and having one disallowed in the play-off final, but he struggled to find games in his second season at the club.

Sam McCallum emerged as the first-choice left-back to begin last season, and only an ankle injury in January, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season, allowed Burrows to reclaim his spot. He concluded the year with five goals and four assists, but Jimmy believes McCallum will resume his starting role now that he is fit again.

“I also think there’s a big chance that we cash in on Harrison Burrows,” he said.

He slipped down the pecking order slightly after a terrible season; he’s now second choice to Sam McCallum, and he still has value, so he might leave.”

Burrows, like Peck, expressed early interest in the window. FLW exclusively disclosed that he was on West Ham’s radar in late May, but nothing came of it.

If that desire resurfaces, the 24-year-old may be viewed as someone the Blades can afford to lose in order to bring in a reasonable fee without jeopardising their starting lineup.

Ryan One

It goes without saying that Sheffield United will let some of their younger players to leave on loan. Mihail Polendakov and Alex Matos have been permitted to leave, but Jimmy believes more of their under-21s will follow.

Most notably, however, could be Ryan One, who many believed could break into the Blades fold this season due to their financial predicament and the fact that he has plenty of promise, as demonstrated in spurts when at Lincoln City in the second half of last season.

Jimmy believes that the 20-year-old, along with other young players, will benefit from a full season at a lower level. Additionally, Jimmy hopes that Mark McGuinness, who has been transfer-listed, will leave permanently.”I expect Ryan One to go out on loan,” he remarked. “I hope some of our other youngsters go out on loan to get up to speed and play men’s football, rather than under-21s.”

The former Luton Town player’s debut season at Bramall Lane has not gone well, with Chris Wilder claiming he cost the Blades £5 million last summer. The 25-year-old hasn’t lived up to the exorbitant transfer prices paid for him recently. If the Blades decide to break ways totally, they may have to bear a minor loss, which would be great.
