Millwall F.C. have a medical scheduled as part of a £3m transfer deal, with a five-year contract set to be signed.

Millwall’s remarkable summer recruitment campaign shows no signs of slowing down, with Alex Neil continuing to bolster his team ahead of another Championship promotion challenge.

After falling agonisingly short of the Premier League last season, the Lions have already moved quickly in the transfer market, signing Jenson Metcalfe and Tairyk Arconte.

The club’s recruitment squad appears to have returned to the Belgian market, with another highly rated young star expected to join The Den.

According to recent sources, Millwall are on the cusp of completing their third signing of the summer, with a long-term contract in place for one of the Belgian Pro League’s most promising developing players.

Millwall are moving in on Mathis Servais’ transfer after an agreement was struck.

Millwall are expected to complete the acquisition of Belgian midfielder Mathis Servais from KV Mechelen, following an agreement between the two teams.

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that the 21-year-old will travel to London on Saturday for a physical before signing a five-year contract at The Den.

However, the fee is disputed amongst countries. According to Tavolieri, KV Mechelen will get a price of roughly €6 million for the sale, while Millwall-centric media indicate it will be less – Dan Marsh of The Mirror reckons it will be £3 million (€3.5 million) to complete the deal.

Servais only joined Mechelen from SK Beveren last summer, but he had a good first season in the Belgian Pro League, appearing in 32 league games, scoring twice and providing three assists after moving up from the second tier.

The dynamic midfielder, who can also play out wide and appeared in several games as a left wing-back in 2025-26, graduated from Club Brugge’s academy before spending two seasons at Beveren.

Mechelen signed him after his breakout 2024/25 season in the Challenger Pro League, when he scored eight goals and assisted eight times.

He immediately adapted to Belgium’s top division, becoming a regular starter and scoring two goals and four assists in all competitions.

If the transfer is completed as expected, Servais would become Millwall’s third signing of the summer, following the acquisitions of Metcalfe from Bradford City and Arconte from Rodez.

The signing of Mathis Servais highlights Millwall’s persistent ambition.

Following the heartache of missing out on promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs last season, Millwall have wasted no time in demonstrating their desire to compete again.

Neil’s side scored the club’s most points in the second division with 83 before losing to Hull City in the play-off semi-finals, leaving the impression that only minor improvements are required to close the gap.

Servais looks to match the recruitment profile. Millwall have progressed in recent years. At 21, he already has experience in both Belgian football leagues, with plenty of possibility for growth.

The Lions have had success recognising talent from abroad, with players like Casper de Norre, Camiel Neghli, and Mihailo Ivanovic adjusting well after moving from teams outside of England.

Neil should also appreciate Servais’ adaptability. Comfortable in centre midfield, on the left, or in more forward attacking situations, he combines tactical versatility with the technical ability that has gained him reputation as one of the Belgian Pro League’s budding prospects.

A five-year contract would also demonstrate Millwall’s long-term belief in the teenager, with the club being willing to invest handsomely in a player they hope will be a vital figure as they seek a long-awaited return to the top flight.
