Portsmouth F.C. are close to finalising a transfer agreement worth in excess of £3m.

Portsmouth are preparing for a busy summer ahead of the upcoming Championship season.

Pompey will be looking to strengthen their first team squad as they aim to climb the second division league under John Mousinho.

Hampshire finished 18th the previous season, surviving relegation by eight points and earning 55 in total.

This will be the club’s third year at this level, following its promotion from League One in 2024 and a 16th-place result in 2025.

Portsmouth will aim to close the gap on the teams in the top half of the standings while avoiding relegation.

With the transfer window open until 1 September, they are set to be very active in the coming months.

Portsmouth closes in on Serbian striker.

The News reports that Portsmouth are in talks to sign Marko Milovanovic from Spanish club UD Almeria.

The two teams are in talks over a transaction, but no agreement has been reached since an earlier offer of £2.5 million was rejected.

It is believed that an asking price of £4.4 million has been set, with a 10% sell-on option likely included in any bid.

According to Spanish journalist Antonio Martinez, a deal is likely to be reached at this point, with the final price estimated to be higher than the €3.5 million (£3) spent to recruit the player four years earlier.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan with Portuguese side Alverca, where he scored nine goals and assisted twice in 31 league outings.

How Portsmouth fans feel about Marko Milovanovic’s involvement.

Portsmouth fans are excited about the club’s transfer activity in the early parts of the summer window, and Milovanovic is the type of signing the squad has needed for several years.

Despite missing out on acquiring Luke Graham for Stoke City, fans believe that bringing in the Serbian would be a promising start in the summer market.

And missing out on the Scot to their Championship rivals has some anxious about not having this deal done, given how lengthy negotiations are taking, and the recruiting staff is now under pressure to complete the transfer.

Portsmouth will begin the new season at home against QPR on August 15.

Marko Milovanovic’s signing holds potential for Portsmouth.

Given how few goals Portsmouth has scored in the last year, it’s clear that they need to strengthen their striker alternatives for the coming season.

Adrien Segecic led the way with ten goals last season, followed by Terry Devlin with five.

The 22-year-old is still young and has room to improve his game, which aligns with Pompey’s current policy of focusing on promising youth.

His achievements in the Portuguese first tier last season demonstrated that he knows how to score goals, so this is a promising signing for Portsmouth.
