Norwich City are gearing up for what might be a busy summer as Philippe Clement prepares for his first preseason as head coach.

The 52-year-old took over at Carrow Road last November and managed a successful second half of the season.

Prior to his appointment, the Canaries faced relegation, but a recent run of play has elevated them to ninth place in the Championship table.

The Norfolk club was eight points behind sixth-place Hull City, and will try to close that deficit during the summer in order to sustain a promotion challenge in the following season.

This will be Clement’s first genuine opportunity to develop the group to his taste, making it a critical time for the club.

It might be a busy couple of months in the transfer market, with Norwich hoping to return to the Premier League for the first time since 2022.

Norwich faces Sam. Field pressure

Pink Un reports that a number of Championship clubs are interested in signing Sam Field, as they consider a permanent move for the midfielder.

The 28-year-old joined the Canaries on loan from QPR in the January window, making 13 appearances in the second half of the season.

However, the Norfolk club has not made a final decision on whether to pursue a permanent agreement before his return to Loftus Road.

It is known that some of the other prospective possibilities on the table may provide Field with more promises about consistent game time than Norwich does.

After Julien Stéphan took over as QPR manager last summer, the midfielder slid down the pecking order.

Prior to his temporary move to Norwich in the winter market, he had only made 18 Championship appearances, nine of which were starts.

However, Clement will have Pelle Mattsson back to full strength, and he and Kenny McLean are likely to be ahead of Field in his plans when everyone is available.

However, the QPR player might be enticed by the chance of a promotion challenge next season, as well as a higher cash offer.

It remains to be unclear what kind of sum the Hoops would ask for a permanent exit, which will also impact into his future plans.
