This summer, other Championship clubs, including Blackburn Rovers, Wrexham, and Bristol City, will be pursuing similar transfer targets.
The Championship is an unforgiving league in which passive market behavior is not tolerated, with proactive clubs frequently rewarded for staying ahead of the competition.
In a World Cup year, the summer season can be slow to begin. However, several clubs are already considering deals before then. In fact, Blackburn Rovers, Wrexham, and Bristol City are all reportedly interested in signing the same player.
Championship experience is something they will all want to add to the mix, knowing they can continue with more proven quality at this level. That is, if they can find it reasonably priced this summer.
Sam Greenwood’s transfer interest rises as Wrexham and Bristol City enter the race

Alan Nixon has already claimed that Blackburn are interested in signing former Leeds United player Sam Greenwood. The flexible attacking player can operate as an attacking midfielder, out wide, or in a box-to-box role.
After playing as a striker for Arsenal and Sunderland in his youth, the 24-year-old departed Leeds permanently last summer for the Polish side.
Pogon Szczecin agreed to pay £3.4 million. He previously spent time on loan at Preston North End and Middlesbrough in the Championship, both of which were unimpressive.
Kamil Grosicki, a former Hull City player, captains the side, with Greenwood scoring three goals and assisting twice in Ekstraklasa. However, he has been an unused substitute in the last three matchdays of the season.
According to Goal Poland, several EFL clubs are interested in Greenwood’s services, despite the fact that he may not have lived up to expectations at Pogon.
Bristol City and Wrexham are reportedly interested in signing the 24-year-old playmaker ahead of the summer transfer window. Blackburn, who recently acquired Ryōya Morishita from Legia Warsaw, may also be interested.
Two of the three interested parties in Greenwood do not currently have a head coach in place, although transfer plans at Ashton Gate and Ewood Park appear to be underway, as is the search for Gerhard Struber and Michael O’Neill’s successors.
Sam Greenwood may be a good pick for a Championship club this summer.

Greenwood has played in a number of positions for both Preston North End and Middlesbrough, but he is now entering his prime years and should be able to exhibit his talent more consistently.
He’s a strong set-piece taker, and his long-range shooting is impressive, as evidenced by his solitary goal for Leeds in a Premier League game against Bournemouth.

His playmaking should improve given the areas of the pitch where he works, but Greenwood could benefit from a return to English football this summer with more quality around him.
Wrexham currently has a large number of attackers, but he would fit in well behind the striker in either their or Bristol City’s systems. On paper, these seem like reasonable possibilities for him this summer. However, Blackburn may be the club with the most consistent game time, if not the cash.
