Ally McCoist lambasted the decision to award Celtic a disputed penalty against Motherwell, calling for the end of VAR in Scotland.
The Rangers great ripped criticized John Beaton’s decision to award Celtic a penalty kick in the dying moments of their 3-2 victory over Motherwell.

With Celtic set to surrender points against Motherwell, putting Hearts in a strong position to win the SPFL title, the Bhoys were handed a penalty kick deep into stoppage time.
A long throw was thrown into the box, which Auston Trusty competed for.
Sam Nicholson appeared to head it away, but Beaton was summoned to inspect the VAR monitor.
Eight minutes into the five-minute additional time, he decided the Motherwell player had handled the ball and pointed to the spot.
Kelechi Iheanacho stepped up and scored, sparking a minor pitch invasion that extended the title fight to the final day.
It means that a victory for the Bhoys over Hearts at Celtic Park secures the title, whilst a tie would have required a three-goal swing in Martin O’Neill’s favor.
When Iheanacho scored, the referee promptly blew the final whistle, and Derek McInnes termed the decision ‘disgusting’, echoing McCoist’s stance.
During a talkSPORT Breakfast with Andy Goldstein and Gabby Agbonlahor, Goldstein addressed McCoist’s previous statement about Celtic running things in Scotland, and McCoist responded, “Do I need to go any further on my previous statement?”
“A horrendous decision that has embarrassed Scottish football.”Unfortunately, that referee has had negative interactions with Celtic fans.

“He’s a human being and that might have been in his thinking because he made a decision a few years ago that was against Celtic, and the fans turned on him, and I don’t think his life was very pleasant.””I’m trying to think logically about why he’d make that decision,
but are the VAR guys telling us that’s a clear and obvious error?””I spoke with six or seven guys from talkSPORT last night, and five of them mentioned the word corruption,
which is unbelievable.”One of our former players expressed concern about the game’s integrity following this decision. The way the ball comes off his head is not handball because it has not deviated. We understand it is not a penalty, but it is unfortunate that it has come to this.

Goldstein then proposed bringing in an international referee for the championship match between Celtic and Hearts.
McCoist stated, “I believe it is too late for that.”It’s a disgrace to have this talk and consider bringing in referees from other countries. The judgment was so shocking that it has sparked nationwide debate. On Saturday night, the referee was requested to check the monitor but did not award a penalty to Hearts in that area.In the Old Firm game,
Alistair Johnston received a straightforward red card, which VAR did not review.”The first goal was offside, so we must get rid of VAR in Scotland because it is making us look like clowns – we are a laughing stock.”It has marred an otherwise excellent effort. “Some of the ex-players I’ve spoken with are horrified.”
Doubling Down
Celtic have now pulled together a significant winning streak, putting them on the verge of another SPFL title, which appeared to be beyond them.
However, after a 3-0 victory over Falkirk at Tynecastle on Wednesday night, Hearts will be confident heading to Celtic Park.
Their task would have been much easier if Celtic had dropped points, but it comes down to the last day of the season.
Perhaps predictably, Shebahn Aherne, host of talkSPORT’s Weekend Sports Breakfast and a Celtic fan, has a totally different perspective than McCoist.
She also joined the boys for Breakfast and was adamant that it was a Hoops spot kick.
She replied: “Obviously, it’s through the Celtic-tinted glasses as well, but I think if it’s for anybody’s club, it is quite clearly a handball – I can’t see it any other way.””I woke up this morning and am so overstimulated by this conversation that it’s a header – he clearly has his hand up off his forehead, and the ball comes off his hand.”That’s all I can see. I am not going to change my mind about it; that is a handball.”
Agbonlahor then asked Shebahn if an open palm could propel the ball that far.
And she remarked, “Why don’t you throw that ball with the heel of your hand up to your head and watch how far it goes? The still image depicts the hand hitting the ball, which is a handball.I’m not sure why someone is attempting to take it away from them (Hearts). Derek McInnes’ remark about Hearts being “disgusting” is rather harsh. It tells me he’s apprehensive about the weekend, as he should be.”
When Goldstein showed Shebahn a picture of the incident, she said, “No, Andy.”Put your spectacles back on. His fingertips are on the ball. “I see a hand on the ball, and I don’t understand why you’re trying to convince me otherwise. It’s handball.”It’s a penalty, and we’re down to the last day.”
Heated
Shebahn also stopped by The Sports Bar last night to have a heated chat with Jason Cundy about the penalty.
Cundy insisted it wasn’t a spot kick, which sparked a lively debate.
Shebahn Aherne says, “St Martin O’Neill has the gods shining.” I’m witnessing the uproar. I’m hearing you claim it’s not a handball, but it does contact his hand. “So it’s a handball.”
Cundy: “I do not see it, Shebahn. I don’t see it.
SA “What don’t you see?” “Have you put your lenses in?”
JC: “No. “I don’t see a handball.”
ASA: “You should look again because it definitely touches his hand.”
JC: “He makes it apparent. I’m not sure why he’s got his hand up there. No, but he says it clearly.
“You don’t get that much power with your hand.”
SSA: “Why does his hand touch the ball?”
JC says, “No, no.” I am claiming it does not. So don’t ask me why it has, because I insist it doesn’t. So you’re telling me he punched the ball that far?
SA: “No, but he’s headed it, and he has his hand on the ball.
“You can see his hand on the ball.”
JC: “No, you cannot.
“That’s not conclusive. How do you know?
“No, I said the fact we’re having this conversation tells me the penalty shouldn’t have been given.”
SA: I believe it’s a pen. “It is a penalty.”
JC: “No. I have no dog in the fight. I could care less. That’s a horrible decision. Terrible.”
He continued, “Let me ask you something. If it were the other way around, would you say this?”
SA: I would say the same thing. It’s a complete shock, but it’s still a penalty.”
JC: “That’s a shocker. So you admit it’s a startling decision?
SA: : “I’ve already said that.”
JC says, “It’s terrible…” You cannot penalize someone for that. It’s very inconclusive.
“When you start dealing with the realms of might, it’s completely inconclusive.
“The level of power he gets on that header is unrivaled in my opinion.
“If it has, then you are speculating. “You are guessing.”
