QPR urged against entering Celtic FC transfer battle amid “frustrating situation” warning

QPR’s major priority this summer, as you would assume, will be to sign a new goalkeeper.

The R’s had a productive summer window ahead of the current season when it came to reinforcing the frontline, and with the likes of Rumarn Burrell, Richard Kone, and even Kwame Poku when fit, Julien Stephan’s team appears to be set for the future at the top end of the pitch.

However, with a defensive record that is only better than Sheffield Wednesday’s and Leicester City’s this season, it is clear that defensive improvements must be made heading into next year to help propel them towards being outsiders for the extended playoffs.

Defensively, QPR spent £4.5 million on highly rated centre-back Ronnie Edwards in January, but the team has continued to concede goals, primarily through poor goalkeeping. This season, the Hoops are ranked in the top ten for predicted goals conceded in the Championship, although they have conceded over 13 more than projected.

So a new goalkeeper is a priority, and Dundee FC’s shot-stopper Jon McCracken has been linked with a move to Loftus Road. Rumours that FLW’s QPR fan pundit, Louis Moir, does not expect to materialise.

Fan commentator advises QPR to avoid Celtic-linked Jon McCracken.

With the most saves in the SPL this season, Dundee’s McCracken is attracting interest from both the EFL and Scotland. Celtic have surfaced as a club interested in signing the 25-year-old, with Aberdeen’s former manager Keith Wyness urging the Bhoys to complete the move.

So, in light of that, Moir believes QPR has little chance of signing McCracken. Even if they did, the fan analyst has advised his team to avoid the Scottish Premiership while hunting for a new number one.Moir agreed that it would be difficult for a Celtic-targeted player who already plays in Scotland to choose QPR over Celtic. But,

hey, we desperately need a new goalkeeper, and we’ll get one in the summer, whether it’s Jon McCracken or anyone else. But I’m just weary about looking around the Scottish league for recruits.”I’m not sure what it is. I just think you can do a lot better than looking for potential moves from there. Although Scotland has produced

talented players, I am not really interested in them.It is simply based on reservations about whether some Scottish League players are good enough to play in the Championship. That’s not to say this guy isn’t a good keeper; I’ve never heard of him, and to be honest, he’s probably better than what we have.”

This season, QPR’s goalkeeper position has been far from ideal.

Julien Stephan has tried with Paul Nardi, Joe Walsh, and veteran Ben Hamer during the current season with limited success. Moir believes that upgrading the keeper position is necessary for the Hoops to advance to the next level and qualify for the playoffs.”The goalkeeper situation at the club this season has been frustrating,” he added. “We’ve switched three times this season. Joe Walsh has been playing frequently, but none of his performances have been satisfactory. It’s an area we need to improve in the summer, whether McCracken comes in or we go elsewhere for other targets; the goalkeeper position must be the first focus for us this summer, without a doubt.”

QPR might be in the play-offs next season if they manage this transfer window right.

There’s a lot of excitement surrounding QPR’s next season.

With Poku and Ilias Chair out for the majority of the current season due to injury, and Burrell sidelined for three months after scoring 10 goals in 27 games in the first half of the season, there’s even more excitement around an already exciting frontline, even without the addition of new players.

That, combined with a complete season of Edwards at the back and another year of Nicolas Madsen and Jonathan Varane in the center, brings the Hoops close to completion.

With the play-offs expanding to six clubs next season, Julien Stephan’s side, which is still 11th with four games remaining despite injury and goalkeeper concerns, should be seeking to capitalise and return to the Premier League.

Even if there weren’t an extra two play-off slots, QPR could have aspired to be a top-six team next year. However, before they can do anything else, they must resolve the goalie situation.

They cannot finish next season with a bottom-three goals against record, especially if their underlying defensive figures do not reflect that of this year. Whether it’s McCracken or not, finding a new number one must be the top priority at Loftus Road this summer.
