Sheffield Wednesday is still in administration, but David Storch’s Arise group is making progress toward completing the takeover before the start of the new season.
The Owls’ struggles this season were highlighted when they were demoted to League One in February following a 2-1 loss to fierce rivals Sheffield United.
Wednesday never had a chance of avoiding relegation to the third tier, since former owner Dejphon Chansiri’s financial misdeeds resulted in the Hillsborough club losing 18 points, and several players left last summer.
The Owls’ winter transfer window was not made any simpler when club hero Barry Bannan joined Millwall to assist the Lions in their promotion push.
Meanwhile, Storch’s bid fell short of the amount required to pay the creditors 25p in the pound, meaning the South Yorkshire club would lose 15 points next season.
Despite their current challenges, the Arise consortium is working hard to assure Wednesday’s competitiveness in League One next season.
Football League World has compiled a comprehensive list of the most recent takeover news from Hillsborough.
Lee Gregory could be given a Sheffield Wednesday position in the Arise revamp.

Storch, a prospective owner, aims to create a club that Owls fans can identify with after years of hardship under Chansiri and administration. He stated, “When we first met people from the Supporters’ Trust, they shared with us a document they had produced called A Better Wednesday, and we read through it and felt this was exactly how we want to behave and operate as owners.”In fact, as we began the process of submitting our bid, I had the entire team there, including our bankers, lawyers, accountants, and consultants. I had them all read A Better Wednesday to familiarize themselves with the notion, because this is how we’re going to behave.
With that in mind, Storch’s Arise consortium may turn to Lee Gregory, who is well-known among Hillsborough fans from his playing career.
According to the Sheffield Star, the former striker, who has been helping to coach the Owls youth in recent weeks, could be given a more regular position.
When the Arise consortium completes its takeover, they are anticipated to form a new coaching group.
Arise makes fresh Sheffield Wednesday plans, including CEO appointment.

There is still no guarantee that Arise will be named as Wednesday’s next owners, but things are definitely heading in the right direction, giving Owls fans reason to be cautiously optimistic.
Former preferred bidder James Bord’s Wednesday takeover failed, but Storch is currently facing the EFL’s Owners’ and Directors’ Test, with no problems highlighted thus far.
Meanwhile, once the transaction is completed, the Arise consortium will have a number of off-field and on-field issues to address.
According to the Sheffield Star, Storch and Co are looking for a CEO to administer the South Yorkshire club on a daily basis.
According to the Star, the CEO’s identity has yet to be revealed, but they are thought to have previously worked at a high level of football.
Along with their ambitions to recruit new board members, Arise wants to remodel the Owls’ megastore, and other infrastructural improvements are needed in areas such as Hillsborough’s North Stand.
Sheffield Wednesday’s anticipated takeover date remains unchanged.

Storch has long expressed a desire to complete his Owls takeover by May 1, telling BBC Radio Sheffield, “We’d like to get this done as soon as possible.” We will focus on the procedure and hope to complete it successfully. We want to be ready to play in the June transfer window, so we plan to complete this as early as possible in May. I’ve been blessed. I’ve been successful in my life’s work, and we have a solid financial strategy that includes investments we believe are necessary to compete. That will see the team return not only to the Championship, but possibly beyond it.”
Alex Miller of the Sheffield Star has revealed to X that Storch is still aiming to complete his takeover by May 1.
If Storch completes the buyout by next month, he will simply be subject to the EFL’s Owners’ and Directors’ Test; if the transaction is not completed by May, he will have to go through the Independent Football Regulator’s checks.
