The 12 players that will miss Norwich City vs Ipswich Town, including a £7.8m star, have been revealed

The East Anglian derby is back, and with both Norwich City and Ipswich Town still having everything to play for, Saturday’s game promises to be exciting.

Norwich vs. Ipswich is one of England’s biggest derbies, and the Canaries will meet the Tractor Boys on Saturday at Carrow Road, with everything left to play for.

Norwich started the season poorly, but under Philippe Clement, they have risen up the division and are still in contention for a spot in the top six, with a win in this game critical to those aspirations.

Ipswich, meantime, is tied on 72 points with Middlesbrough and Millwall, but with two games in hand, a win here would move them one step closer to an immediate return to the Premier League.

Norwich will want to do everything in their power to sabotage their Suffolk neighbours’ ambitions, while Ipswich will be anxious to sabotage Norfolk’s recent revival, as FLW examines each player who is a doubt for this thrilling match.

Harry Amass

Norwich have had a very injury-filled season, with Harry Amass being the first in a long list of injuries.

The left-back arrived on loan from Manchester United in January after impressing on loan for Sheffield Wednesday in the first part of the season, but he only made one appearance, a 15-minute cameo against Coventry City, before sustaining a catastrophic injury during training.

The teenager has returned to his parent club to finish his recovery and is not anticipated to play again this season.

Mirko Topic

Mirko Topic, a Serbian midfielder, joined Norwich from Portuguese club Famalicao in the summer and played just 16 league games before suffering an ACL injury against Oxford United in November, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season.

The 25-year-old is likely to return next season, and Clement hopes he will be treated like a new signing.

Ante Crnac

Croatian winger Antre Crnac, like Topic, suffered an ACL injury early in the season against Derby County and has not played since October while recovering.

When he returns to fitness, Clement will have a completely different option from out wide, with Norwich fans hoping that the Belgian manager can get the most out of the 22-year-old.

Matej Jurasek

Matej Jurasek, a Czech winger, has had a terrible time with injuries since joining Norwich in January 2025, and he is unlikely to play in this game after injuring his foot in late January.

The 22-year-old was declared out for up to ten weeks, and with his last minutes coming in late January and failing to play a complete 90 minutes all season, it’s unlikely that will change anytime soon.

Jovan Makama

Jovon Makama has been one of Norwich’s standout performers this season, as the former Lincoln City striker has been a constant source of hope even throughout the club’s difficult times.

However, the Canaries will be without him when they face Ipswich on Saturday, as he broke a bone in his foot against Blackburn Rovers in February and has not played since.

Papa Diallo

Senegalese winger Papa Diallo joined Norwich in the summer from Ligue 2 club Metz, which has produced Sadio Mane, Kalidou Koulibaly, Emmanuel Adebayor, and Franck Ribery.

Diallo, on the other hand, has failed to have the same impact as the aforementioned players, having made only nine league games this season due to a quad injury sustained early in the season.

Diallo has not appeared in a matchday squad since the end of January and is unlikely to return for this match.

Ruairi McConville

Ruairi McConville, a Northern Irish defender, began the season at the bottom of the pecking order under Liam Manning, but since Philippe Clement arrived, he has risen to become one of the first names on the Belgian’s squad sheet when fit.

Unfortunately for Norwich, McConville appears certain to miss this game after picking up a knock while on international duty, with no timetable for his return.

Azor Matusiwa

Azor Matusiwa, a Dutch defensive midfielder, has been one of the top performers in the division this season, having come from French club Stade Rennes for £7.8 million in the summer.

Unfortunately, Kieran McKenna will have to do without the 27-year-old for this heated rivalry, after Matusiwa suffered a dead leg in their 2-1 triumph over Birmingham City and was substituted late in the first half.

Ivan Azon

Spanish striker Ivan Azon was absent from Ipswich’s 20-man squad against Birmingham on Monday, and McKenna later disclosed that the decision was made because the Como loanee suffered a calf injury during the international break.

The head coach did not specify a date for his return to play, but it appears that he may miss this one.

Wes Burns

Welsh winger Wes Burns has missed the majority of this season due to injury; however, after returning to the team in December, the 31-year-old suffered an injury against Sheffield Wednesday and has not played since.

McKenna had hoped to return after the international break, but Burns is yet to be named to a squad and appears to be out of this crucial game.

Conor Townsend

Conor Townsend, Ipswich’s left-back, has been absent for the entire season due to an ACL injury sustained during pre-season, therefore terminating his campaign before it even began.

Townsend will not play in this derby because he is unlikely to return to the Tractor Boys.

Ashley Young

Ashley Young, 40, refuses to call time on his career just yet, having joined Ipswich from Everton in the summer on a one-year contract until the end of the season.

Ironically, Young is now getting older, and after suffering a significant hip injury in January, he hasn’t been part of a matchday squad since, suggesting that his time at Portman Road and as a professional footballer is coming to an end.
