David Storch issues a heartfelt statement amid Sheffield Wednesday takeover progress as he visits the club ahead of a potential deal.

David Storch, the prospective new owner of Sheffield Wednesday, has revealed his aspirations to restore Hillsborough while sharing information of his time in the city.

The Owls have been in limbo for months, having gone into administration in October, with a group led by James Bord later withdrew from the process of buying the club despite being selected preferred bidders.

That left Wednesday in a difficult situation, but it was reported last month that the Storch family was in pole position to buy the club, and they are optimistic of completing the transaction this month.

As they near a deal, David Storch has been visiting the city, and he took to social media to reflect on his time in Sheffield, including a message to fans.

“Another fantastic week in Sheffield, with so many memorable moments. Every time I come here, I fall deeper in love with the city and its people, who have been so hospitable and warm.

“Excellent interactive Q&A with @swfc workers at Hillsborough; their dedication is commendable. We will bring excitement and pride back to the offices by fostering an outstanding culture.

“I am impressed by Mayor @olivercoppard and @katejosephs’ excellent civic leadership. I have also appreciated developing a positive friendship with Clive Betts. I really enjoyed spending time with Sheffield Wednesday legend @HirstyD9, who is still very passionate about the Owls.

“My team and I are working on a number of critical projects so that we can hit the ground running when we take over this fantastic club. Most notably, upgrades in Hillsborough and the design of our outfit and crest (stay tuned!)

“I had the opportunity to organize a lunch at Maria, an exceptional new restaurant in the city centre. You have to try it! We were welcomed by @LordBlunkett, who enlightened us with many stories covering 75 years of real passion for the club, both good and bad.

“I completed my visit at the Broomhill Tavern, where I relaxed over a pint with some new acquaintances while watching our match versus Stoke City. I’d want to wish everyone a very happy Easter weekend as we embark on the following week’s adventure to rebuild this magnificent football club.

“PS. I was also lucky enough to find two antique shirts at RagParade… “I love it!”

Sheffield Wednesday will be dreaming of a bright future under the Storch family.

Storch’s social media connection with Sheffield Wednesday fans has been well received, and they will enjoy reading this message.

He definitely believes in what the club stands for, and it’s encouraging to see that he’s visiting the city on a regular basis to see what it’s like, interact with fans, and get a sense of what the club means to the residents.

From his update, mention of creating a ‘culture of excellence’ will go over well, and it’s encouraging to see that he values the efforts of individuals in the building who have given so much during difficult times.

Furthermore, fans will be eager to see what advancements will occur in terms of enhancing Hillsborough, as well as the kit and crest.

Surprisingly, despite their struggles on the pitch, Sheffield Wednesday are concluding the season with some optimism thanks to the takeover, and there will be hope that the Storch family can help the club thrive in the long run.

Of course, they will have a lot of work to do in the short term once the sale is finalized, but all of the early signals point to them being the ideal owners for Wednesday, which is exactly what the fans deserve after everything they have had to go through in the last year.
