Two Middlesbrough fixtures have been cancelled following confirmation of Ipswich Town’s promotion clash being selected for TV broadcast.

As expected, Middlesbrough’s crucial promotion clash with Ipswich Town at Portman Road will be broadcast live on television.

The game was originally planned for Saturday, April 18 at 3 p.m., but has now been changed to Sunday, April 19, at noon.

This has resulted in another fixture change, with the home game against Sheffield Wednesday moved from Tuesday, April 21 to Wednesday, April 22.

Boro’s game against Ipswich was always likely to be selected for live coverage because the two teams are competing for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

It means that four of Boro’s next five games will be broadcast on television, with the home game against Portsmouth on Saturday, April 11 remaining in its original time frame.

The current pick also guarantees Boro will not play another Saturday 3pm away game till the conclusion of the season. The previous away game played on a Saturday was a defeat at Bristol City right before Christmas.

Boro are on TV in Blackburn on Saturday afternoon, and their Easter fixtures against Millwall and Swansea have been selected and rescheduled. Portsmouth was left alone, but Ipswich has since been relocated.

The only remaining game that can be changed is the home game against Watford on Saturday, April 25, with the final day trip to Wrexham, along with the 11 other Championship fixtures, starting at 12.30pm.
