The truth surrounding a potential Celtic move for Andy Robertson has emerged, with Wrexham also linked with the Liverpool defender.

Wrexham’s ambition of reaching the Premier League for the first time in club history remains alive as the season enters its final month, thanks to a 2-0 victory over Swansea City on Friday.

The Red Dragons’ all-Welsh encounter with the Swans was seen as a’must-win’ if they were serious about remaining in the Championship play-offs with nine games remaining.

A 2-0 victory ensured Phil Parkinson’s team remained sixth on 60 points, with the win being critical as nearest competitors Southampton provided a turn up for the books less than 24 hours later, stunning league leaders Coventry City at the CBS Arena.

It is well established that the North Wales club’s earnings have skyrocketed as a result of the global exposure available to them under the ownership of Hollywood A-listers Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.

After achieving the record-breaking feat of three consecutive promotions from the National League to the second tier, Wrexham broke their record spend on an individual player and for an entire window last summer, and were even linked with making more eye-watering moves during the recently closed winter window.

However, reaching the promised land of the Premier League would almost definitely elevate the club’s fortunes to new heights, allowing it to attract proven top-level players who would strengthen Parkinson’s squad in terms of talent and experience.

Andy Robertson, a Liverpool and Scotland international full-back, has been widely linked with a move to Stok Cae Ras in recent weeks.

The 32-year-old has been the subject of many transfer speculation recently, with his contract at Anfield expiring on June 30th.

And, with Wrexham reportedly interested in signing the defender, it has been stated that he might be open to returning north of the border to play for SPFL giants Celtic.

How Andy Robertson feels about a possible Celtic move amid Wrexham transfer rumours

According to Football Insider, Robertson has surfaced as a summer transfer target for the Glasgow club, with the right offer potentially luring the 90-time Tartan Army international to Parkhead.

He has not played in his native Scotland in 12 years, having joined Hull City from Dundee United in the summer of 2014, before going on to have a trophy-laden tenure on Merseyside following a well-documented £8 million move nine years ago.

While Robertson has surfaced as a target for Atlético Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, he has expressed misgivings about joining Celtic this summer.

The article also adds that, while a move for the veteran figure is appealing to the Bhoys, the team is now under interim manager Martin O’Neill for the second time this season and is not believed to have left-back as a current priority.

Kieran Tierney and Marcelo Saracchi are O’Neill’s current senior options, with the latter on loan from Boca Juniors.

Wrexham handed potential Andy Robertson boost as Celtic stance emerges

There is no disputing that Robertson would be a valuable addition to Parkinson’s team, and the aforementioned claim could have boosted their chances.

However, like with the links to his old Liverpool colleague, Harry Wilson, a transfer for the Scot almost probably depends on whether Wrexham can make history between now and the conclusion of the season.

Meanwhile, it has been stated that contract talks between the Reds and the defender have not progressed, and he will leave on a free transfer unless something changes in the coming weeks.
