David Storch has thanked Sheffield Wednesday supporters for welcoming him to the city as his family works to clinch a contract with the club.

The Owls have had a frantic period since entering administration in October, with the focus on finding a new owner for the Yorkshire outfit.

A consortium led by James Bord was initially in pole position to buy the club, but he withdrew his bid last month, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the Owls, who had already been demoted from the Championship under Henrik Pedersen.

However, there is a much more positive outlook around Wednesday now, as it was revealed that the Storch Family are the preferred bidders.

While they must yet pass the appropriate EFL tests before being formally designated as the new owners, given their resources, they are confident that this will be completed.

The thought of owning Sheffield Wednesday is certainly attractive to David Storch, as he recently visited the city to interact with fans and took to social media to express his gratitude to the fans for the way the family has been greeted.

Sheffield Wednesday can begin the long journey to a brighter future with the Storch Family.

As previously said, there is still work to be done before this agreement is formalized, but it is easy to see why Sheffield Wednesday fans are enthusiastic about the club’s future with the Storch Family as its owners.

Obviously, there will be some significant challenges to overcome, particularly in the short term, since they will inherit a weak squad, even by League One standards, and we know they will face a points deduction and pay limits next season.

However, this is a long-term project for the Storch Family, and they clearly see great promise in the Owls, which is understandable.

This remark from David Storch is a lovely addition, and all fans who spoke with him and listened to what he said during his time in Sheffield were impressed, which is very promising.

Of course, they will be judged on their acts rather than their words, but Wednesday has a brighter outlook.
