Wycombe were compelled to explain the whereabouts of manager Michael Duff, who failed to arrive in the second half of Saturday’s contest.
Duff was nowhere to be seen in the dugout after his side’s 3-0 victory over Burton Albion in League One after being sent off during the halftime break.
Fans at Adams Park had no idea where the 48-year-old was, so the club’s social media account announced what had transpired.
Statement
As the second half began, Wycombe announced on X: “Michael Duff has been shown a red card during the half-time interval, and will therefore not be in the dugout for the second half.”
The reasons for his removal remain unknown, with first-team coach Alex Morris omitting to reveal the reason for Duff’s departure in a post-match press conference.
He instead stated that Duff was in good spirits after Wycombe secured their second consecutive league victory.
Morris stated, “He’s pleased; obviously, he was frustrated not to be out there because you can’t affect and influence the game as much as you want to as a manager when you’re sitting indoors.”
“But he’s pleased with how the boys responded, he was pleased with the way they’ve reacted to the adjustments that we made at half-time.”Finally, we closed out the game professionally and will move on to Tuesday night.
Duff was on the bench as his team went into halftime leading 1-0 thanks to Caolan Boyd-Munce’s 15th-minute long-range strike.
And his absence only seemed to energize his team, which went on to score twice after the break.
Luke Harris and Nathan Lowe scored to close the game, propelling Wycombe up to ninth place in the rankings.

The League One team confirmed the dismissal on their X account.
The victory puts them just two points away from a play-off spot.
After narrowly missing out on promotion to the Championship last season, Wycombe are hoping to get over the line this time.
While their home record has been strong, consistency away from Adams Park remains an issue.
Wycombe have just 14 points from 16 away games this season.
It has one of the worse records in League One.
