Breaking News: England has finally appoint ‘interesting outsider’ as new boss, with Eddie Howe slammed as ‘Safegate’ choice

The Football Association’s chosen candidate for Gareth Southgate is Eddie Howe, as TEAMtalk revealed on Tuesday, and England is currently searching for a new manager.

We are aware that the manager of Newcastle would want to lead the Three Lions, and he would be willing to leave St. James’ Park to do so.

Howe’s appointment may present a financial challenge for the FA, though. With England, Southgate made £5 million a year, which is less than most Premier League managers make.

In order to free Howe from his contract, the FA would also need to pay Newcastle a buyout fee of almost £5 million; however, no money would need to be paid in exchange for other targets like Graham Potter and Thomas Tuchel.

A few commentators have expressed their worries that Howe isn’t the right person to bring football back and that his hiring would be too “safe” due to the FA.

The FA has been advised by Richard Keys to search elsewhere for a new manager. Keys stated in his blog that “Eddie Howe would get a mention as well.”

“We need something else right now, but he’s a very typical FA man, right out of the Safegate mould.”

An “interesting” prospect for England is Frank Lampard
After offering a few substitutes for Howe, Keys unexpectedly concludes that Frank Lampard, who he characterises as a “interesting outsider,” would be a better choice to lead England.

Maybe Keys is forgetting that Lampard hasn’t succeeded in his managerial career thus far.

Derby County lost the 2018–19 Championship play-off final, despite his efforts to get them there. He lost his job at Everton when the Toffees came dangerously close to relegation during his tenure, and he was fired from his beloved Chelsea after failing to deliver success to Stamford Bridge. He also had a lacklustre short tenure with Chelsea at the close of 2022–2023.

Lampard is undoubtedly an unconventional pick for England, and it’s unlikely that he would electrify supporters in the run-up to the 2026 World Cup.

Keys also names Lee Carsley, the manager of England’s under-21 team, as a possible Southgate replacement, calling him a “very impressive coach.”

The youthful Three Lions won the under-21 European Championship last year under the leadership of the former Everton player, who is well-liked behind the scenes at Euro 2024.

TEAMtalk has been informed by sources that Carsley “cannot be ruled out” as the probable next England manager; nonetheless, Howe is still the FA’s first option at this time.

But Keys is adamant that England should pick Liverpool legend Jurgen Klopp instead of Lampard, even though the latter is a “interesting” possibility.

Keys continued, “We need someone to put fire in the lads’ bellies.”

“Everyone on the squad is overly polite.” The manager is reflected in them. Mourinho would act in the same way as Klopp, but he has a job. Klopp hasn’t done so. Give one to him. Prior to someone else taking action.
